Fox News would have run wall-to-wall coverage. Republican lawmakers would have called it a disgrace. People would have claimed he was disrespecting the office, cheapening the presidency, and turning America’s most historic political residence into a personal entertainment venue.

But because it is Trump, suddenly it is “iconic.”

That is what makes this whole thing so revealing.

It is not even just about UFC. It is about the hypocrisy. The same people who claim to care about tradition, dignity, law, and respect for the presidency suddenly have no problem with a combat-sports spectacle being staged at the White House.

The standard changes depending on who is doing it.

May they know what childhood is supposed to feel like: school bags, playgrounds, laughter, warm meals, safe homes, and dreams that are not interrupted by war.

No child should have to learn the language of survival before learning the language of hope.

The children of Palestine deserve more than sympathy. They deserve safety. They deserve dignity. They deserve a future where they are not remembered only through tragedy.
