Cheers to 12 years!

Today makes 12 years since we married. We’ve built such wonderful life together. A life filled with love, happiness, and a whole lot of silly. We’re so blessed to have a great network around us. Blessed to have two amazing kids and an incredible fur child. Blessed to have family and friends who supports us and puts up with us. BRUTALLY HONEST review time!

Yesterday we asked, and you answered. So today we’ll do a brutally honest review of a quick service meal… at Contempo Cafe inside of Disneys Contemporary Resort.

In our most recent trip we decided to visit this quick service resort as part of our planned resort day. I’ll be honest, I was hesitant to go here as the last time I was here (it’s been a minute) we did not have a good experience. But like anything else, things change, and everyone deserves a second shot.

Up first was the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread… and I have to say, it was absolutely 💯. The crust itself was crispy/crunchy and made for a perfect base for the mozzarella cheese, pulled buffalo chicken, blue cheese fondue and celery salt. I came in expecting to be disappointed and left wanting more on this one. Absolutely a hit- 8.9/10

Next we had a kids meal with chicken tenders and fries. Like any other chicken tender meal, this was pretty standard and nothing to write home about. I will say that it was cooked well, as often times these can be overcooked or over warmed- so that was nice. Standard chicken digits- 6.7/10

As we have some gluten friendly needs, we also ordered a gluten friendly cheese pizza. I don’t normally mark quick service for presentation, but, we definitely get a downgrade on this one. Who stacks cheese pizza slices in a rectangular box, honestly? Anyway - as far as quick service; gluten free pizza goes- this was OK. It was good enough for a 7 year old to order twice, but nothing spectacular. Another 6.7/10

We also tried a couple of the signature sandwiches here… and this is definitely an area of strength for this spot. First up, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Pepper Jack, Chipotle Rémoulade, Arugula, Seasoned Tomato, and Dill Pickle Chips served on a Brioche Bun. In this day of age, everyone’s got a spicy chicken sandwich. It was important for us that this set itself apart from any other fast food type spicy chicken, and it did! The combination of ingredients, juiciness of the chicken and the great homemade chips paired really well together. Very good sandwich and worthy of a 8.3/10

Finally, and perhaps the highlight of the me- the Roasted Turkey Sandwich. White Cheddar, Bacon, Arugula, Seasoned Tomato, and Cranberry Aïoli on Toasted Multigrain Bread. Yes, yes, and more yes. This was a delightful sandwich and that cranberry Aioli stole the show and had such a powerful impact on the sandwich. We’re turkey sandwich people. It’s super easy to make a dry, plain turkey sandwich. It’s not normal known for a powerful punch of flavor- but man, this sandwich was a show stealer. 9.1/10

The restaurant itself also has the added benefit of being right below Disneys monorail which is great for keeping the kids entertained while we eat. It’s an added bonus that shouldn’t be lost in the review.

Overall, we’re really glad that we gave this restaurant another chance. A few downgrades for the traditional quick service stuff, but certainly better than your average quick service meal. We give it an 8.3 overall.
