Kamala Harris brings a bit of optimism and joy back to politics...it's a Democrat thing. Check out this performance from a few years back, where Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia joined us onstage with the Dave Kline Band, and brought bags of joy, decency, fun and humanity with him.

We'll be back with Tim and the Dave Kline Band at Blues Alley November 14...for a big post-election celebration. Vote, vote, vote, and get your tickets now at BluesAlley.com

Excited to be preparing for shows in Europe, and the equally exotic Shenandoah Valley as summer comes to an end, before heading back home for a DC Jazz Fest "Jazz at the Met" show, and more.

CERN will be celebrating their 70th anniversary and have invited back Lynn's Les Horribles Cernettes band for a show, along with the musicians of Supertramp on the French-Suisse border...how cool is that!

How do you fancy a beer, great music and a chance to learn about the music history of Northern Virginia. I know, amazing!

My three-part Music City DC lecture series at Old Ox Brewery, Loudoun County is complete, but by-popular-demand, tonight will be a bonus edition, looking at the Northern VA history from the late 1950's to the current day. Expect, protest music, jazz, blues, folk, country, rock and roll, punk, and more as we see the musicians of Northern VA who made a big impression nationally and globally. Lot's of guitars too...but that's just another bonus.

Free and fabulous, courtesy of the fine people of Loudoun County Public Library. It's a great brewery, with food and a big screen projector to watch the videos. See you later tonight.

Canada is on my mind tonight. Eldest (Toronto based) son is singing the National Anthem tomorrow night and doing the first pitch in Buffalo. I'm heading up there to see youngest son race at the Royal Canadian Henley next weekend, and I happen to be married to my favorite Canadian.

Hope you like this video from Véronneau's Blue Tapestry show a few weeks ago at Strathmore's AMP venue. Big thanks to Jim Robeson for the videography. We'll be performing the show again at Creative Cauldron August 24. Get your tickets fast and celebrate Joni Mitchell's "Blue" and Carole King's "Tapestry" with us.

We're doing one of our On-The-Street performances again today, Tuesday July 2. Drop by if you have a lunch break in DC. We'll be in Farragut Square Park...you can find us where the music is between noon and 1:30pm, just doing our thing. I think there will be games and other things going on at the same time...the things we do to get a crowd!

Do you have a young musician in the family or know someone who might enjoy this years Blues Alley jazz camp? Highly recommended, with some of the DC areas finest teaching musicians, under the leadership of the fabulous Michael Bowie.

Its the 25th year of the camp which runs from July 22-Aug 2 - attendees can do one or both weeks. Students from age 11-18 participate, and it takes place at the DC Waterfront near Anthem.

Many students from the camp and the Blues Alley Youth Jazz Orchestra have gone on to graduate from just about every major music school and conservatory in America. I've been involved with Blues Alley Jazz Society for some years now and seen the camp in action...I can't recommend it enough.

Our annual summer camp is a gateway toward accessing the education necessary to complement others while learning inside an immersive musical environment.
