Discovered a little trick when preparing display materials for the ARIA Author Expo tomorrow (riauthors.org).

Take your rack card and size it for 11x17! No redesign needed, only a little attachment process. Whew!

Found this book in my father's effects and cleaned it up a bit - WOW. Published in 1923 (so Dad would have been about 4) by Doubleday, Page & Co., "Wonder Movies" by Victor M. Earle (illustrated by Benjamin Seielstad) is an ingenious 1920s interactive novelty book.

By unfolding its pre-folded accordion panels page by page (see the vertical lines on the story page), readers could "animate" the story and make animal illustrations move right before their eyes—a mechanical marvel of early children's publishing. I was fascinated reading it as a kid, myself.

Amazing example of vintage interactive bookcraft! I'd love to republish it, but what would it take to do this today, I wonder?

Love this photo of our children's author Anne Spielberg, around the time her movie, BIG, was released in 1988.

Anne's picture book for kids, "The Iceberg & The Penguin" comes out on Earth Day 2027. And you guessed it - there's an environmental theme, inspired by her expedition to Antarctica!

Had a great time presenting Anne Spielberg's "The Iceberg and The Penguin" at the Arlington Family Connection monthly gathering today. A glorious chaos with squirrely kids, noisy (but cool!) room, attentive parents, and all!

Assistant Editor Jessie kept them spellbound with Anne's story arc and Anne answered questions via video link from CA after!

Thanks to manager Drew Hunter and Mill Cafe staff for their hospitality.

The 13th Annual Rhode Island Authors Expo is less than two weeks away, and Pierce Press and IPNE will be there!

The Expo is on Saturday, August 15th from 10 to 3 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI.

It’s been a busy Spring of 2026 for Oleg’s book production team, not to mention Oleg on the frontline in 🇺🇦! :-\

Since you all are part of our team, we felt it was time to share an update on the Tales of the Wandering Mists, Book 1 audiobook—and thank you again for helping make it possible. Production is running behind our original schedule for an April release, but you can be sure that PaigeVox is taking the time to create something much more ambitious than a conventional audiobook. Kickstarter backers will receive a full-cast, immersive experience, designed to bring the multi-layered, beautiful, and magical world of the Wandering Mists to life. With a cast of professional actors’ voices and a richly atmospheric production, we are confident that it will be worth the wait, and something you’ll want to share and hear again and again.

And the Wandering Mists are moving again. Book 2, The Man with Four Shadows, is in editing with Megan, and we’re preparing for a new Kickstarter to pay for translation and editing, as we bring this next installment of Ukrainian author and defender Oleg Veretskiy’s trilogy into the world.
