Today, on National Immigrants Day, we celebrate the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of those who’ve made the journey to build a new home. 🌎✨

Today is a reminder that migration is (and always has been) a human right. 🦋

Language isn’t neutral and words aren’t passive. Words such as aliens, illegals, or invaders erase the humanity and individual identity of immigrants.

Changing the language is the first step toward changing the system. ✨

This week on Immigrantly, Saadia unpacks the language used to describe the American immigrant experience and how it shapes the way migrants are perceived.

Prejudice is not policy.

Yesterday, Andrew Cuomo and Sid Rosenberg said that Zohran Mamdani would cheer if another 9/11 happened. This islamophobic rhetoric is the same paranoia that has been recycled for 20+ years. It dehumanizing, vilifying, and sends a signal that Muslims will never be American enough.

We need to change the narrative about Muslim Americans. Enough is enough.

Our Story

Hi Everyone, my name is Saadia Khan. I am a social entrepreneur/human rights activist and the founder and host of Immigrantly. Immigrantly is a weekly podcast that deconstructs the archaic stereotypes of what it means to be an immigrant, a child of immigrants, a person of color, a changemaker, and everything in between. Each episode brings a fresh perspective on the issues we address. Our conversations are complex, challenging, and oftentimes messy. But I wouldn’t trade the messiness for anything, because what we have created instead is a new, ongoing dialogue full of rich nuances.
