After the death of their beloved dog Peyton last year, Mark and Wendy decided to honor his memory by starting a nonprofit that provides support for dogs and their owners. Peyton’s Promise works toward the goal of helping pet owners be able to afford to keep their pets.

Tomorrow, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Troop 993 Eagle candidate Harrison Klee and fellow volunteers will head to Kinder Farm Park to improve a path from the Visitors Center to a local fishing pond: clearing the trail, laying landscape fabric, spreading mulch, plus installing two benches with built‑in rod holders for public use.

If you'd like to stop by and help the effort, wear work gloves and closed-toes shoes or boots and bring plenty of water.

Severna Park resident Chris Peters has completed marathons on every continent, making him part of the Seven Continents Club. His final competitive run was the Big Five Marathon on a game preserve in South Africa this June at age 67.

The fall season is off to a promising start for many of the teams at Broadneck and Severna Park high schools. Currently undefeated teams include the volleyball team at Broadneck and the girls soccer and field hockey teams at Severna Park.
