Free Speech or Hate Speech?
At Thursday’s SGA Town Hall, students questioned why AACC allowed an extremist church group to rally on campus last month.

Professor Mary Bachkosky explained that as a public college, AACC is legally required to allow all speech , even hate speech ,under the First Amendment.

SGA President Chris Chambers urged students not to react, saying the group’s “business model is suing colleges.” He suggested focusing on positive counter-events instead.

Administrators said they’re considering new free speech zones, possible megaphone limits, and better student alerts when protests occur.
