"We must read the Fathers cautiously, and lay them in the gold balance, for they often stumbled and went astray, and mingled in their books many monkish things."

—Martin Luther, 'Colloquial Mensalia,' or 'Divine Discourses at his Table,' (commonly known as his Table-Talk).

"If you hear a man rail at the Bible, you can usually conclude that he never reads it. And you may be quite certain if you hear a man speak against religion, that he never knew what religion was. True religion, when once it takes possession of the heart, never allows a man to quarrel with it. That man will call Christ his best friend who knows Christ at all."
—C.H. Spurgeon, 'The Spies', 1858.

John 11:1-4 NASB95
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. [2] It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. [3] So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." [4] But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."

For those believers who have dealt with, and are dealing with, sickness and loss, make no mistake about the truth of God's hand in your trials. Though your countenance may be somber, and spirit brought low, turn your head up and look, look, look to Christ!
There is Providence and purpose in your pain, and God will be glorified in it.

Before we speak or act, particularly on social media, we ought to ask ourselves:

Are we being an instrument for righteousness or unrighteousness?
Are we using our liberty justly or unjustly?
