Two companies we cover on Livemalls have been kicked off S&P Global’s elite S&P 100 list.

Nike and Simon Property Group will leave the list of large cap, blue chip companies on September 21, due to declining stock prices.

Nike in particular has seen its stock price drop by 78% over the last few years. Simon has had better luck with its stock, but pales in comparison to most of its former blue chip investment peers.

Both companies are still in the larger and better known S&P 500 list. Since S&P Global calculates its list quarterly, either company could easily return if their shares trade higher in the future.

RUMOR: Could a new, large-scale entertainment tenant be coming soon to Ross Park Mall in Ross Township, Pennsylvania? Our friends at the Greengate Gazette seem to think so.

Their page has been a reliable source of retail information for the Pittsburgh area.

Details are very scarce at this point, but with JCPenney making its exit soon, we have a feeling that whatever comes will occupy at least part of the department store space at Ross Park.

UPDATE: The impact of Hudson’s Bay closures on Canadian retail real estate will be felt for years, as a new CoStar report reveals.

The real estate analytics company reported that in the second quarter of 2025, vacancies at Canadian malls shot up an astonishing 5%, to land at 8% overall, in direct relation to the department store’s demise. National retail vacancies rose from 1.8% to 2.5% in the same period.

While a majority of the Hudson’s Bay spaces are being absorbed by other businesses and uses, the closings came at a terrible time, depressing an already struggling market, according to the report.

It’s not all bad news, though. Projections for the next few years project a rebound around 2028, with growth in construction and demand.

IN BRIEF: Barnes & Noble isn’t the only bookstore chain that’s expanding. Books-A-Million is opening a new 19,000 square foot location at Millcreek Mall in Erie, Pennsylvania, replacing a 5,300 square foot location in the same mall.

Construction is underway and the store should be ready for holiday shopping later this year.
