Helping At Risk Kids (HARK) is a hyper-local nonprofit with a clear mission: providing support for children in Buncombe County who are facing the most challenging of circumstances. HARK’s recipients include children in foster care, youth identified by local school systems as experiencing homelessness and teens aging out of the foster care system. The tough circumstances these kids face often go unseen … but HARK connects the community with an easy way to help. ⬇

Save the dates for these fun events in Biltmore Park Town Square!

This year, Biltmore Park Town Square is bringing even more magic to the holiday season, continuing its commitment to create space for connection and to celebrate what makes our community so special. These seasonal gatherings offer the perfect opportunity to come together and support local businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors.

In partnership with Winter Lights at The North Carolina Arboretum, Biltmore Park Town Square is thrilled to introduce a brand-new experience: the Winter Lights Trolley. Beginning November 28 and running through December 27, this festive trolley provides VIP roundtrip transportation to Winter Lights—an enchanting open-air show featuring more than a million dazzling lights at the NC Arboretum. Guests can hop aboard at the stop located alongside Town Square Green in front of Mosaic Café.

The experience doesn’t end there. Start the evening at Biltmore Park Town Square with holiday shopping, premier dining, and seasonal fun before riding in style to Winter Lights. Tickets also include exclusive perks and discounts at participating Town Square businesses, making the night extra bright. Trolley tickets include entrance to the NC Arboretum Winter Lights and can be purchased here.

Beyond the Trolley, Biltmore Park Town Square will host a full calendar of festive events, including two new additions this fall. From family traditions to community favorites, there’s something for everyone:

• Bulldog Block Party (Thurs., Oct. 16, 5:30–7:30 p.m.)
In partnership with UNC Asheville Athletics, Ingles Markets, and the Reuter Family YMCA, the Bulldog Block Party returns with games, live music, sports clinics, and meet-and-greets with Bulldog student-athletes and mascot Rocky. • Paws & Pumpkins (Thurs., Oct. 23, 3–6:30 p.m.)
A brand-new fall tradition combining two favorites—dogs and pumpkins. Families can enjoy a Trick-or-Treating Trail around Biltmore Park businesses, a farmer-led Pumpkin Patch, a dog costume contest, and adoption opportunities with Mountain Pet Rescue. • Town Square Tree Lighting & Holiday Market (Fri., Nov. 21, 4–8 p.m.)

• 7th Annual South Asheville Turkey Trot (Thurs., Nov. 27, 9–11 a.m.)
Hosted by iDaph Events, this annual Thanksgiving tradition brings together locals and visitors for festive fitness fun. Register here: https://idaph.net/south-asheville-turkey-trot/.

• Santa in the Square & Holiday Market (Sat., Dec. 6, 3–7 p.m.)
Town Square transforms into a winter wonderland with live entertainment, crafts, games, and a visit from Santa himself. Fresh-cut Christmas trees, wreaths, baked goods, and holiday crafts will be available at the market. Learn more: https://biltmorepark.com/holidays/

This season, Biltmore Park Town Square invites the community to come together, celebrate local, and create memories that shine as brightly as the Winter Lights themselves.

We’re proud (and honestly a little teary) to share that Reader’s Digest has named Asheville the Nicest Place in America for 2025! 💙

This honor recognizes the resilience, compassion, and togetherness our community has shown—especially in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

A huge thank you to Reader's Digest for spotlighting Asheville’s spirit, and to the incredible panel of judges who helped choose this year’s honorees: Al Roker, Mitch Albom, StoryCorps’ Sandra Clark, Mónica Guzmán, Bonnie Kintzer, and Greg Hudnall.

We’re so honored to be recognized among communities nationwide that are showing the power of kindness.
