Okay! Later start than we'd have liked but helped some folks load water and whatnot. First: Babies Need Bottoms next door at Ernest then Haywood Famous to drop off for their Asheville Period Project Asheville Period Pantry, and lastly Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. If that doesn't empty the truck, please send me leads for places that need CLEANING SUPPLIES and PERSONAL HYGENINE SUPPLIES.

Happy Delivery Friday thanks to the !

Okay, so we got a quote for $900/m rental for a 53-foot trailer storage unit for supplies, but this seems steep and feels like we could borrow / buy / something else. There's a huge parking lot at my work and we have approval to take up 5 parking spots... we would love to have storage for oxygen tanks, propane tanks, and of course all kinds of other supplies that folks need especially with these cooler temperatures.

Any and all leads and help appreciated. Trying to be very dollar-conscious as our fundraising till is at $2,200 so this expense would take half.

Open to buying shipping containers / sheds / etc. as well as they could then be sold or donated to those who need it after we use them for a while.

Big delivery coming tomorrow (Tuesday around 4om) for the Welcome Wagon for the (and Volunteers Needed for Beloved Asheville) and would LOVE to be able to organize and distribute to communities we are already working with that can't come to pickup/distribution centers.

Thanks in advance. Have a couple friends looking at my Skoolie that hasn't been driven in years but it's a mini (everything helps though as storage is a problem but we need all the supplies we can get to keep coming in). I know it needs a new tire (it's a GMC 3500 activity bus) so would take a donation of a tire too.

If you would like to co-host, host, sponsor, or get involved in any way, please email [email protected] or text our nonprofit at 828-209-9897. And if you have events that we can support, please reach out as we can share your happenings with our amazing community that we've been building since opening our doors on January 1, 2024.

Our biggest immediate need is for volunteers to help us at BeLoved Asheville as we volunteer to prepare for and support during tomorrow's (10/21/24) Welcome Wagon for the (and Volunteers Needed for Beloved Asheville) happening from 2-6pm (our understanding is that Beloved is still setting up at Highland Brewing Company but I will confirm in the morning).

Hope to see some of you this week at tomorrow's event or at our new Weekly Tuesday Coffee Meetup for Women in Business 10am-12pm, or Thursday for Paddle & ProspHER Pickleball Club for Women in Business at Asheville Sports Club 9-11am, or our new Weekly Thursday Women in Business Fireside Chats 5-8pm.

Now off to disc golf for the first time in 10 (12?) days. Be as well as you can be and I hope you have a relaxing(ish) Sunday evening. Big hugs and big love.

Mad Genius Studios is focusing full-time on our nonprofit, Mad Genius Foundation (EIN 99-2974373) to help support the recovery and regeneration of the region's small business community. Tomorrow, Monday, October 21 we will be welcoming a shipment of supplies from our founder's hometown of Camden, Oh

My old cell number is out of commission for at least a few more days. If you need to reach me, please text our Mad Genius Foundation nonprofit's number at 828-209-9897 as this will be the full-time focus going forward. I have not received texts since Thursday, October 9, so big hugs if you have been trying to reach me. I promise to explain but now is not the time...

Monday the delivery from the led by John Willard Lay Jr., Angie Ashton Breakfield, Sarah Tyra, Shelly Smith, Erica Zornes & Macy Combs (and so many more!) is coming with a full semi of supplies--and I have heard rumors of a fire truck too?!?!.
The current plan is to deliver to BeLoved Asheville since we have not been able to secure storage pods for the Mad Genius Studios & AdaptHealth parking lot even though we have room for 5 pods... (PODS Moving & Storage had the audacity to quote us $44,000 for renting two pods for two months. Obviously, that is not in the budget....). Anyone have leads or connections for any type of mobile storage (shipping containers from Shipping Container World or Maersk or ? would work too...)?

Everything is hard and weird and endlessly jumping through hoops and feeling like you're making all the wrong decisions and often thinking why even bother, just sell your house and start over in a new city...But Asheville and WNC has my heart, and there is a lot of good we can do here together to help rebuild this region after .

Our small business community is incredible including Western Women's Business Center, InvestHER Community - Asheville North Carolina, The Real Estate Investher, Women In Trades Hub, WNC Business, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Explore Asheville - Buncombe County Travel & Hospitality Industry, Asheville Design District, River Arts District Artists, Asheville, Historic Biltmore Village, Hatch Innovation Hub, Venture Asheville, Snow in July Designs, 1 Million Cups Asheville, CreativeMornings Asheville, LEAF Global Arts, Carolinas Real Estate Investors Association, Show Her The Money, Digital Nomads, and so many more.

BIG hugs, BIG love, and BIG peace to all of you...

No internet here still, but I did get an external hotspot that's working okay, and I'll be setting up a loaner Starlink Network official on Monday at the office, so come on by if you want to work from there. Plan is to be setup by noon and work until sunset during the week whenever possible.

Next weekend is looking like a definite camping weekend... planning on heading south for warmth... if anyone knows of lakes that weren't destroyed, I'd love a lead on where to stay with electric/water hookup...I need some nature healing and am certainly grieving all the amazing events we had lined up this fall for the Co-Creating Our Futures series (Show Her the Money comes to Asheville and Woman-Owned Expo Trick or Treat and Where Do We Go From Here Town-Hall Style Breakfast are all in limbo, but we are looking at alternative dates and to combine in one week of awesome).

How does NOVEMBER 18-22 or DECEMBER 2-6 sound for AVL Women Entrepreneurs & Leaders Week? Please comment what dates you prefer and we will work with the SHTM documentary crew and all the 50+ vendors who were registered and the venues to make it happen and provide shopping opportunities of merch and other uplifting events and experiences that also result in much-needed dollars for the participating businesses. We need to capture as many holiday dollars as we can for our recovering business community.

14 Days since landed.

It's been daunting, terrifying, eye-opening, and heart-expanding.

So much to tell, but that can wait.

For now, just wanted to let folks know I am safe, I am good, and I am ready to get back to work on Monday.

Signing off for the day. Feeling defeated but information changes so rapidly it's tough to know what to do next. Had a group of ready-to-go hikers turned away in Fairview and told to "go help Swannanoa" even though we know Fairview was rocked and there are people isolated and one guys said there's just bodies lying around.

So yeah, it's been a day. The hardest thing is getting super clear, concise, exact information. Which is why we are working so hard to try to find actual human beings to connect with that are boots on the ground like us.

Any leads, please send my way. Any ideas, send my way. I hate to have volunteers and supplies ready, but be told by dropoff locations they are overwhelmed.

We are working to become a supply storage location and have friends working on getting us Pods delivered. Then we can deploy volunteers to specific locations.

It's been a long day of chasing down information, coordinating volunteers, talking with folks doing supply fundraisers, trying to get Starlink, helping some ...

We need addresses of direct places that need deliveries and exact neighborhoods. We are hearing that even the distribution centers don't have delivery addresses. Can anyone help us identify people stuck at home with immediate needs?

Why We Started The Great Reset Conversations

We started this podcast on March 26, 11 days after the lockdown orders started rolling through and it was announced that school was cancelled until May 15 (now, of course, that deadline has been removed and all schools are ending their school years virtually).

We fell in love over long, deep, and vulnerable conversations with one another in The Salon as we liked to call Tommy’s covered front porch in Weaverville, North Carolina. We would sit for 6+ hours singing, talking, him playing guitar, but mostly, just talking. About our agnosticism and theories about why humans exist, our hopes and dreams for the future, projects we wanted to start, places we wanted to visit...we would start around happy hour--drink in hand--and talk until the wee hours of the night 3-4 nights a week (basically whenever he didn’t have his children, I was there for 96 hours straight, only broken up by going to work or meeting someone to interview them about their business for one of the outlets Shawndra writes for). We’ve pretty much kept that format after we moved in together on March 15--yes, the same day that school announced it was closing for two months, we said, ‘Screw it, we were going to move in together anyway after the school year ended,’ and we certainly didn’t want to go through a lockdown separated.

We vowed to never stop having these meaningful, philosophical, soul-bearing conversations with one another for as long as we shall be together (fingers crossed for the rest of our souls’ days) before we started The Great Reset. But then, we realized that the conversations we were having together needed to be discussed with other deep thinkers. We want to think about solutions to the world’s problems and how we hope that things never go back to the rat race, hustle-or-die, push-push-push hectic pace of life that was all but demanded from most of us. We don’t have to go back to that, nor should we.

So, join us as we discuss the micro and macro implications of COVID-19 with people from all walks of life and industries as we shine a light on the cracks in our systems that the Coronavvirus has merely revealed that already needed our attention, but now, demands it.
