We spent some time exploring Gettysburg National Military Park this week, and it was one of those stops that gave us plenty to talk about as a family.

Walking the battlefield and seeing the terrain firsthand makes the history of July 1863 feel very different than reading about it in a textbook. The decisions, the scale of the battle, and the number of lives involved are hard to fully grasp until you're standing there.

Finishing near the site where Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address was especially impactful. 🇺🇸

Another great roadschooling stop—and another reminder of just how much history is out there waiting to be explored. 🚐

🚐 As we continue our way south, we decided to break up the drive from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania with an overnight stay at Wrights Farm in Gardiner, NY, an AMAZING Harvest Hosts location! 🌾🚐 What a great find! Highly recommended if you're passing through the area!

Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to also visit the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park before heading out the next day. 🇺🇸

Bonus travel days broken up with a little history instead of simply driving through an area. One of the many things we love about this lifestyle is getting to stop, explore, and experience so many of the places we discover.

It’s hard to stand in a place like Hyde Park and not think about the challenges FDR and the country faced during the Great Depression, World War II, and so many other defining moments in American history. Whatever your perspective on his policies, there’s no denying the weight of the decisions made during that era—and the importance of leadership, character, and integrity when a country is facing extraordinary challenges.

Spent the day before we left Boston exploring the JFK Library and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate.

We love continuing to connect the dots of history in person. Listening to actual recordings from briefings on the Cuban Missile Crisis to exploring the full-scale Senate chamber replica next door, just an amazing day.

Two very different museums, same stretch of harbor. Make sure to check both out if you're passing through !

We are starting to build our Spring through Fall 2027 work camper team at Firefly Hills in Eastern Kentucky.

We are especially looking for handy people who enjoy building, fixing, and tackling projects, as well as those comfortable operating tractors, excavators, and other equipment.

This is a hands on role with plenty of variety. Along with projects, work campers help with animal care, gardens, grounds, guest spaces, and the everyday tasks that keep our property running smoothly and looking its best.

Firefly Hills is not your typical RV park. We are an intentionally inclusive, family oriented campground with farm animals, gardens, an orchard, natural spaces, and a strong sense of community.

Applicants must have their own RV.

🥾 Prep Hike #2: Beehive → The Bowl → Gorham Mountain → Sand Beach 🌊

If Precipice is on the Acadia bucket list, you’ve got to earn it. 😅

Yesterday we tackled our second prep hike, starting up Beehive Trail, continuing to The Bowl, then over Gorham Mountain before finishing down at Sand Beach for lunch.

Beehive definitely delivered a little taste of what we’re getting ourselves into—steep climbs, iron rungs, exposed sections, scrambling, and some pretty incredible views along the way. 🪨🥾

The girls handled the climb like champs, and honestly, this hike gave us a pretty good idea of where we need to be before taking on Precipice.

🦞 Now THAT’S a Maine lobster experience!

We had an awesome afternoon with Lobster Boat Tours - “Catch Your Dinner”. Dan and his daughter Taylor were fantastic from start to finish.

We got to learn about Maine’s lobster industry, see how the traps are pulled, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into getting those lobsters from the ocean to the table. It definitely gave us a new appreciation for the whole process—not just the meal at the end.

And that meal… 🔥🦞🌽

Without a doubt, the best lobster we’ve had in Maine so far. Fresh, simple, and exactly what you want when you’re sitting right on the water eating lobster that was just caught.

The girls had a blast, we learned a lot, and we left with full bellies and another great Maine memory. Definitely one of our favorite stops so far!

Oh Acadia, how we've missed you 💚

Kicked things off with a hike around Jordan Pond and a scramble up to The Bubbles, quads still complaining on that one... 😅 What a payoff at the top though!

Rounded everything out at Jordan Pond House for popovers, because you don't hike Jordan Pond without them.

Acadia was one of our first stops after launching, and we're so happy to be back!

So glad we took Red's advice at Misty Acres Alpaca Store & Farm! We LOVE a good fair, and Windsor did not disappoint. Between all the animals, horse racing, food, and rides, it was a great evening.

Bonus: C1 finally got that whoopie pie she's been craving since our last visit to two years ago! 😂

This adventure wasn't even on our radar, but that's the beauty of this lifestyle — the best memories often come from a good recommendation and a willingness to say yes to the detour.

If you visit the fair this week, Swing by Misty Acres tent just down from Gate 2 and say hi to Red and Connie! They're just across from the food vendors.
