Grievances

Grievances Grievances - a zine for revolutionaries is a DIY publication created/edited by L. Festa to provide an avenue for artists & writers to showcase their views.

"We eagerly await your complaint." Grievances is an independent, international, and collective project, created by the people for the people. The idea is two-fold: with so many talented but unknown peers, I thought it was time my generation started something of our own Warhol factory, allowing others to stand on our shoulders. Taking the cue from the hilarity of Seinfeld's Festivus tradition, we h

ope that contributing artists will help put fear to death and make others feel less alone through their visual art and writing. Anyone from any state, country, and cultural background is welcome to contribute to future quarterly issues. Left, right, gay, straight, male, female… Share your art and your view, whether it be opinion, fantasy, personal, political, controversial, tame, profane, or compelling. Tell them what you cannot stand for, then show them what you do stand for. Let's start somewhere. State your grievances - air them to the world. Nail them to a wall, or just send them to our inbox. We're good listeners. Call for Submissions - email art or writing in jpeg, pdf, or word document to:

[email protected]

* All submissions will be printed on 1/2 sheet of legal paper (similar to A4). Writing submissions should not exceed three consecutive (half)sheets. There is no word limit because your work can be submitted in any 2D form. Artists are welcome to send single images or a series of images. (jpg or pdf preferred) All work will be considered, regardless of view. *

Thanks to the gang at Harvest Records, Grievances is now available in West Asheville, where the cool cats of NC hang.

Check out Grievances zine at the best record store in WNC, 415 Haywood Road, and support the revolution, which is still untelevised.

Also, these photos belong to and were taken by someone at Harvest Records, with the exception of that lovely photo of Mark, Bubs, and Matt, which was taken by Brian Postelle for www.onhaywood.com

MLK Jr. & Mr. Rustin are gracing our page to THANK YOU for giving Grievances zine 200 + likes this week.

It's an honor the artist and writer contributors to our 2, going on 3 issues deserve. Please SHARE Grievances with your friends so our outreach goes further still!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Bayard Rustin are two men who would not let their grievances be silenced. They grieved for all of humanity, not just the black community, but for all peoples as one race, one people. They took action, in its most difficult form - peaceful protest - to fight for human rights we would not have seen without their actions. We must continue to air our grievances until equality is achieved for humankind. We honor these men this week and during February, but we should honor them in our lives each day, because these saints and sojourners helped redeem us all.
