Writers and creatives looking to publish: WordPlay’s own Lockie Hunter is hosting this class in February. Do you have projects that you wish to publish but don’t know how to get started? Let’s get your words into the world in the new year. I am teaching a five-week class in February on the basics of pitching and publishing your work through Great Smokies/UNCA. The class will be held in the evenings at Hanger Hall, so we have plenty of free parking! The class is Thursday evenings starting on February 6th.

Zachary Hunter and Pascale Hunter and Graham Hunter and Lockie Hunter and Phyllis Hunter are all safe post-storm.
Thank you to our hero Kim Rueger for rescuing Phyllis. We are now all out of harms way, though Phyllis’s home sustained incredible damage.

Thinking of so many friends and neighbors who have suffered so much and lost so much. Thankful we are all safe.

We have someone who needs to come in and get our car in North Asheville. Does anyone have any idea if there are Ubers from the Asheville airport? This is probably a ridiculous question, but this person desperately needs to use our car, and we told them they could have it, but they will need to get to our house from the airport.

What a fun interview we had with Rick Chess, the author of four books of poetry. We explored work in progress and read from past collections and had a delightful conversation.
The entire interview can be heard at the link below. Rick will be teaching a workshop on September 15th titled “Season of Our Turning: a Generative Poetry Workshop for the Jewish High Holidays”

If you missed WordPlay’s interview with Iranian American author Aliah Lavonne Tigh on Sunday, you can hear it in its entirety at the link below. Tigh is a facilitator and teacher, and their work studies both infrastructures of power and ecological connection. They read from their chapbook Weren’t We Natural Swimmers as well as new work. The discussion was lively and intimate.
