Can’t sleep. Haven’t been able to for a few days now.

Long story short, my grandfather was taken to the hospital on Thursday evening after being found unresponsive. Been up at the hospital during the day with him and other family members.

At this time, we do not know what is wrong with him, and his medical team is still running tests.

I am hoping to fall asleep soon. Got to be up at the hospital early tomorrow morning.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever. We lost 2,976 innocent lives—mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, and everyday citizens—along with 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 55 military service members who answered the call of duty without hesitation.

Just got back from the hospital a little while ago. My grandfather ended up having to go to the hospital via EMS. Not exactly sure what happened but we found him unresponsive. He’s conscious but still incoherent.

25 years ago tonight, 2,976 people went to sleep completely unaware of how their lives—and the world—would change in less than 12 hours.

They set their alarms, kissed their loved ones goodnight, tucked their kids into bed, finished packing for early morning flights, and looked forward to ordinary tomorrows. They didn't know it was their last quiet evening, their last phone call, or their last ordinary moment.

Tonight, let’s hold our loved ones a little closer, speak a little softer, and never take a single quiet evening for granted. May we always honor the 2,976 souls, their families, and the brave first responders who gave everything. We will never forget.
