In 2006, I doodled this design on a napkin in Asheville. It was a concept born of being an adoptive Mom and connection between Mother and Mother.
Garrett is my son. His Mother is his Mother and I am his HeartMommy.
This drawing lead me to JEWELS THAT DANCE and Marlene Robinson Clevenger. Paula Dawkins and her team took my simple drawing and poured several wax molds and the jewelry line was born.
We have been on hiatus since 2012, when the last three HeartMommy pieces were formed and went to a new family.
As we venture back into the world of creation and artistry, Heartmommy is being reborn. 💚

When a baby is born, they come with the most precious gift of life and that of being pure love. My son, Garrett, was born on December 26th. When he was 3 years old, he explained that he was "waiting in the clouds" for his turn to come down.
His mother was in labor on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Garrett finally made his decision to come on December 26, 2002.
Becoming a Mom through adoption is surreal. Some adoptive parents meet their baby at their arrival, some meet their baby after they are born and have left the hospital. Others meet their baby when they are older. On becoming a Mom, it feels so incredible, so heart-full, so all encompassing regardless of the actual first meeting.
Kim, Garrett's mother, allowed me to be part of her birth team. I was witnessing something I will never forget. Her strength and bravery are something I had never witnessed before or since. Knowing that she loved her baby so much and yet knew becoming a young Mom may have not been best for her or Garrett is hard to wrap my head around, even 21 years later.
What I do know, is that when Garrett was bon, I was so in love, my heart burst open and grew. He was and is the most important person in my life.
I am his Heartmommy.

Garrett came to me through adoption. He is a nebula, endless constellations, and he brightens every room.
Being one of Garrett’s guides in life, I was given the most precious life.
Kimberly Price is Garrett’s mother.
She made the ultimate decision and allowed us both to become mothers together. 💙♥️💙
