Introducing a Podcast with a Twist: People are the Worst is a true crime podcast hosted by Biltmore Forest neighbor Rachel Kassinger and her twin sister Rebecca. Launching the podcast in 2022, the twins were motivated to start this podcast from seeing first hand how former classmate Natalie Holloway’s family fought to keep attention focused on the case.

“Watching her family fight so hard to keep her story in the public eye showed us, very young, how much media attention can matter to a case,” Rachel says. Today, that lesson influences the mission behind People Are the Worst.

When Allison, Joel, Adair and June Puryear brought home Tallulah in May 2020, they found an unexpected silver lining to the pandemic. With everyone spending more time at home, it was the perfect opportunity to welcome a puppy into the family.

In 2018, The Ramble Gentlemen’s Palaver Club had its first gathering. Each meeting’s topic is a surprise, picked by a member who then researches and presents it for about twenty minutes. After that, the floor opens up for questions and discussion, which often turns into a lively, hourlong conversation. Over the years, the club has covered some fascinating ground. Members have given talks on everything from German naval history to the ethics of healthcare in America, the constellations you see in the summer Appalachian sky, and even the weirdly fascinating lives of yellow jackets.

The Palaver Club meets at the Ramble Living Well Center on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM.
