This view at Dyrhólaey was pretty hard to beat! This dramatic promontory sits high above Iceland’s southern coast, with puffins nesting nearby, black sand beaches stretching below, and massive sea stacks rising out of the ocean. 🌊🖤

Seeing puffins in their natural habitat was one of the highlights of this stop! They were perched along the cliffs, flying in and out from the ocean, and adding even more life to an already incredible view. Their colorful beaks and tiny, waddling bodies made them impossible to stop watching. 🐧

Not pictured is the iconic lighthouse, but there was plenty to look at in this area—including glaciers, mountains, and plenty of puffin activity! 👀

And yes… I was still looking out for THE mountain. 😂 Turns out my Rainier Watch goes international. 😅🏔️

When you spend so much time watching for Mount Rainier to be out that you start seeing it in Iceland! 🇮🇸 Rainier Watch · Is The Mountain out?

Iceland is full of little details that make you stop and look twice. 🏠🌊⛪️ From brightly colored lighthouses perched along the rugged coastline, to tiny churches tucked into the countryside, and turf-roofed homes that look like they belong in a fairytale… everywhere we went, there was something unique to discover.

And fun fact: Iceland has around 350 churches scattered across this little island! 🇮🇸 Some are grand and iconic, while others are tiny and beautifully simple. Add in the lighthouses and those unforgettable turf houses, and you get a glimpse of just how much character Iceland has around every corner. ❤️

Trust me… this is a trip you NEED to take. ❤️🇮🇸

Iceland is the kind of place that doesn’t just give you one beautiful view… it gives you an entirely new landscape around every corner.

Waterfalls cascading down cliffs, massive glaciers, icebergs floating in crystal-clear lagoons, wild horses roaming the countryside, puffins along the coast, and landscapes that honestly look like they belong on another planet. 🇮🇸🔥🧊

It’s wild, beautiful, unexpected, and absolutely worth the adventure. Pack your waterproofs, rent the camper van, chase the waterfalls, and go see the Land of Fire and Ice for yourself.

If Iceland isn’t already on your list, let this be your sign!

You know you’re in the PNW when you stumble across something like this…🌲👣

Being born and raised in Texas and now living in Washington state, I still get a kick out of the Bigfoot stuff here becoming a normal thing.

🤔 Are you a Bigfoot believer??? What is it? Is it real? Is it folklore?

This past weekend we headed out for a couples backpacking trip to a place in the Olympic National Park that most people don’t get to see. 🏔️💙

Let’s just say… this was one of the hardest hiking + biking combinations we’ve ever done!

Because of a washed-out bridge on the Elwah River, we couldn’t drive to the trailhead. So we loaded up our bikes and climbed roughly 1,600 feet of elevation on two wheels + bike trailers before ditching it all and continuing on foot. 🥾

Then came another ~3,000 feet of elevation gain and about 9 miles of hiking to reach Boulder Lake. 😅

But then we reached the lake.

And there was NO ONE there.

Just us, our friends, the quiet water, a fishing pole, wild blueberries, and a whole lot of freeze-dried meals made with the Jetboil. 😂🏕️

We left at 9 AM Friday and made it back around 2 PM Saturday: tired, sore, probably a little too full of backpacking food… but so thankful we went.

There’s something pretty special about earning your way into a place that most people can’t simply drive to.

The hardest part of the journey ended up being the reason the destination felt so peaceful. 💙

Sometimes the best views come with a little extra work.

And sometimes… they come with blueberries. 🫐

Walk up to a random building and see a warning sign about Bigfoot. 🌲👣 😅
