We had the honor of being interviewed for a magazine article in a section called “Live like the mountain is out“ in the 425 magazine!
✍️ Thanks to Hailee Wickersham for interviewing us!
Here’s a excerpt…
“ “When we first moved here (from Texas in 2020), the best advice we got was to ‘live like the mountain is out,’ and so we hiked, rain or shine, snow or fog,” Dev said. “It built our kids up a good bit, and now we have a 17-year-old who goes hiking without us and takes his buddies along.”
In recent years, the couple has worked with their kids’ school in Kent to take students ages 12-15 on day hikes to places such as Rattlesnake Ridge, Deception Pass State Park, and even snow hiking at Mount Rainier National Park.
“Hiking gives you such an appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors and an opportunity to really slow down,” Dev said, “and see the magnificent in the imperfection.”
Since they’re trekkers well-versed in Washington’s abundance of trail systems, we asked the Chapmans abou their favorite hikes for kids…”
