Time-sensitive obituary: Clifton Frank Nahler

Clifton Frank Nahler, 74, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Services for Clifton will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Robinson-Yager Funeral home in Ashland. Visitation will be from 10-1130 with Masonic service at 1130. The funeral will follow at noon.

Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia or the Ashland Masonic Lodge 156.

The Ashland Betterment Coalition , with help from the Southern Boone Area YMCA, Randys Auto Repair, In ANY Event, and Jose Jalapenos, brought Southern Boone together for an evening of family-friendly fun at the annual “Ignite the Sky” community fireworks event on Saturday, July 19th.

Obituary: Peggy Carlene Brinegar

Peggy Carlene Brinegar, 90, of Ashland, MO passed away July 12, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

A Celebration of Life honoring Peggy will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson Cemetery, c/o Connie Rouse, 10651 E. Engelwood Rd., Ashland, MO 65010 to help maintain the rural cemetery.

The Southern Boone School District is preparing to implement a new policy restricting student use of personal electronic devices during the school day, following the signing of Missouri Senate Bill 68 into law by Governor Mike Kehoe on July 9.

Under the new state-mandated guidelines, all Missouri public school districts must adopt policies limiting the use of electronic personal communication devices — including cell phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, and gaming devices — to reduce distractions and improve academic performance and student well-being.

The Hartsburg Lions Club hosted community fireworks on Saturday, July 12th to raise funds for the ball field.

The event featured concessions, a spectacular fireworks show, a playground, and good ol’ fashioned family fun.
