At the final checkpoint, we ran into an awesome group of rat-rod builders who didn’t even hesitate—they offered their shop, tools, and time to help us fix the Fairlane the right way so we could make the Day 3 call-to-the-lanes. No expectations, no payment, no questions asked. Just pure hot-rodding camaraderie.

This community is what makes Sick Smokies special.

Day 2 of Sick Smokies definitely tested us. The Ugly Duckling Fairlane lost a rear shock absorber during racing, and after a temporary patch at the track… we had to drive the entire Day 2 route with zero rear suspension. 🤦‍♂️

But this is EXACTLY why we love drag-and-drive events.
At the final checkpoint, we met an incredible group of rat rod guys who offered up their shop, tools, and time to help us fix the shock the right way before Day 3. No hesitation. No expectations. Just good people helping other racers keep their week alive.

The cars bring us here — but the people keep us coming back. ❤️

Some days the racing tests the cars… and some days it tests you.
The day 2 drive of Sick Smokies handed us another setback when the Ugly Duckling Fairlane lost a rear shock absorber mount. We drove the entire route with no rear suspension, just hoping to make it to the next checkpoint.

And then the power of this community showed up. ENTER Trey and Chance!

A group of rat-rod builders we had never met didn’t hesitate — they opened their shop, grabbed their tools, and helped us fix the Fairlane the right way so we could keep racing. No expectations. No payment. Just pure generosity.

THIS is what drag-and-drive is all about.
The friendships. The people. The willingness to help a stranger get back on the road. We are constantly reminded how lucky we are to be part of this community.
