Ever been completely exhausted from trying to control or fix a difficult situation? We often drive ourselves crazy by trying to take matters into our own hands. As Christ followers, we know that the logical answer in these moments is surrender. But what keeps us from surrendering? Why do we get in our own way when it comes to letting go of things we know we cannot change?

Surrender is an important spiritual discipline and an integral part of our relationship with Christ. How might God be inviting you into more peace and freedom by encouraging you to surrender what feels scary, unknown, or out of your control?

Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the tragic loss of two young lives and lift up the many injured in the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. In moments like this, we cling to God’s promises: 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.' (Psalm 34:18).

Heavenly Father,
We come to You with broken hearts, asking for Your comfort to surround the families who are grieving, Your healing hand to rest upon those who are injured, and Your peace to guard the minds of every student, teacher, and parent touched by this tragedy. Strengthen the first responders, the medical teams, and the community as they carry the weight of this sorrow. We pray Your presence brings hope, Your Spirit brings healing, and Your love holds this community together.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keep in mind that once you hear God's call on your life, it doesn't mean that things will start happening immediately. You will most likely experience a time of waiting until He decides you are ready. So don't let the waiting period turn into a dark time that causes you to doubt whether you've heard God at all. Keep in mind that in this time He wants you to forget any plans you might have for accomplishing your purpose on your own. He wants you to be totally convinced it won't happen without Him. -Stormie Omartian
