The World Senior Citizen's Day is celebrated on 21 August each year.

The celebration took place for the first time in 1991. The day is intended to increase awareness of the factors and issues that affect older adults, such as health deterioration and elder abuse. It is also a day to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of older people to society.

History
The history of the World Senior Citizen's Day dates back to 1988. It was officially founded by the former President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan.[6] He had signed on August 19, 1988, the promulgation of 5847, which appeared on 21 August as National Day of the Third Age. Ronald Reagan was the first to announce the first National Day of the Third Age.

Ashland versions of me. Twenty-something friendships! Ah, youthful connections. When friendship meant more about fun than authentic intimacy, when i felt more competition than connection, more fear of being accepted and distrust of love. Yet looking back what is seen clearly, resolvingly, deeply is love. Some of these folks i have made the difficult decision to lay down a boundary for my own good, with time two of them may be able to reopen...Although some have drifted farther away than I can, seemingly, reach, that is the reality of life...yet my heart yearns for real and true reconnection, for Miki, top photo, for Aung middle photo, and for Jim, bottom photo sitting next to me on the left, for love is always there, on my end, no matter what. I am beyond excited to commence pre-production on Cafe-Girl's next featured event & theatrical production, the Climate Monologues. With the change over into this administration & all the threats that are possible, I found it necessary to take action in a way that is meaningful, inspiring, & impactful. With Va**na Monologues, my cast & I helped raise awareness & funding for Planned Parenthood. I wanted to find and do something for the very much need of climate action, which led me to the play written & compiled by Sharon Abreu, the "Climate Monologues". What excites me is that this will be the first full cast full production of the show, having been performed as a one woman by Sharon herself, is a script similar in form to the Va**na Monologues, real life stories of real life humans whose lives have been turned into upheaval because of climate change....and that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the local environmental protection agency, , Southern Oregon Climate Action Now https://socan.eco/

Michael doesn't know I am doing this, nor of my plan to help him.
I met Michael Hearne in late 2019. He was spinning music for an event I was having at a local cafe. As I got to know him, I realized what talent he had for creating music--I've never been much into electronic or remixes until I heard Michael's creations. He has a way of taking his thoughts and emotions and putting them into music form, that as you listen, even instrumental, you find yourself swept away and understanding...
Michael is unhoused and only a few years ago gave up on his music creation entirely, feeling unloved, unwanted, almost giving up on life, if it weren't for his sweet pup, MeMe.
Michael feels some anxiety when engaging with local charities that will help the unhoused, so he doesn't reach out. I'm not asking to reach the financial goal right away, just over time. I have helped Michael when I can with food, cash donations, and little gifts. He proudly wears the 'W**d' California hat I gave him regularly. Even though life is hard for him, he always has a warm smile for me and is full of gratitude.

I'm not going to tell him of this fundraiser until I reach a certain limit. I want to surprise him at some point with the reality that funds have been raised to give him 3 to 6 months stay in a local motel. I feel, with that amount of time, Michael will feel some stability and will have the focus to look for work. He has tried, but it is difficult, with his small pup and himself, to find good work when life is perilous in other ways.
There is no real rush or amount requested. Just give what you can or even just share.

I met Fay in the late 2000s, she is originally from Iran and I enjoyed getting to know her personally, understand and appreciate her culture, the way she sees the world. She is now a US citizen. We recently reconnected after many years apart and have picked up where we left off. Due to the current administration, she has felt a heavy fear & risk, then Thursday, July 10th, the unthinkable happened. Her husband, a Polish citizen, was detained by ICE for a false charge based on an expunged traffic violation from 2018. He follows the law, works hard, and is a wonderful husband. He and Fay showed up for a routine visit with Immigration, were following orders, and had all their papers in check. Fay is desperate and is reaching out for help, guidance, advice. Her friend has put together a GoFundMe to help with legal costs. Please help any way you can, whether that be financially, or other resources or thoughts you may have. Let's help each other fight against the atrocities of this administration.
