Hello Community!

Thank you to everyone who has asked about the 2021 Local Goods Guide and continued to show support. More than ever, it's important to stay strong in our communities, support one another and help our local businesses thrive. That's why I have loved, despite the hard work and late nights, putting out this grass roots publication every year. I LOVE what it stands for in our community and the connections it has made for 14 years. (Much love to D Acres of New Hampshire Organic Farm & Educational Homestead for starting this little baby!)

It's with a heavy heart that I am announcing another year of pause, as we figure out the direction of this publication. This time of year, I am usually hosting volunteer dinners to finalize details and organize all the farmers, markets and local shops. This is usually the time when I am doubling down on work in deep gratitude for every human being that offers to proofread, distribute, design or make coffee. It's always been about connection community, not a paycheck.

But this year, the business connection we were working with to level up this publication changed their mind and despite putting in over a year of (verbal) commitment, it simply doesn't work for them anymore. Too late in the game to get the 2021 LGG printed this year, but we shall see what the future holds. Doesn't it seem like exactly what we need right now? I feel it.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions and as always, thank you for your support on this community journey!

In gratitude,
Stacey Lucas

Hello friends! We want to reach out during these trying times to start a conversation and hope you will join in here. (Please comment away here...we want ALL THE FEEDBACK! Then share to ANYONE in central NH and beyond!)

Despite current restrictions, we are still plunging ahead with the Local Goods Guide, to bring this local resource to you in the spring. We understand there are some challenges in this, from ad sales (to support the Guide) to production to distribution. We are feeling the hesitance for businesses to invest even a small amount into an ad at this time and we get it.

BUT, doesn't this give us all a minute to pause and think for a minute? When times are tough and we have limited means, isn't it important to consider where EVERY DOLLAR is spent? (Not just as an advertiser, but as a consumer.) Where you place your money literally casts a VOTE for the kind of world we want to live in. (Think about that, the next time you drive through McDonald's vs. getting take-out from the ma and pa restaurant up the street who is working so hard to stay open during these times, or you shop on Amazon instead of buying local product.)

Think about loyalty. Think about strengthening our wonderful community so we can be better TOGETHER. And at the heart of it is our FOOD and FARMERS, which is why this Guide was started in the first place, 14 years ago at D Acres of New Hampshire Organic Farm & Educational Homestead. It all translates to security.

We're going to have to get back to basics on a lot as a community, but wouldn't it be better to work together and make sure you are casting the right vote?

About Us

The Local Goods Guide is an evolving resource that encourages the localization and revitalization of our economy. By continuing to offer this comprehensive guide, we hope to emphasize agrarian and artistic abundance in New Hampshire and promote a thriving, resilient rural community while ensuring the nutrition, food security, and sovereignty of our region.

The Local Goods Guide has grown tremendously since its 2006 inception as a small tri-fold brochure (started by D Acres Farm in Dorchester, NH) that included only 6 farm listings, to a 32+ page booklet that maps over 40 farms and 50 locally owned retailers. In 2013 the Guide became a self-funded independent entity. While D Acres will continue to be actively involved in the production of the guide, it is rewarding to see the program become a community-organized project, expanding annually to include more local shops, farms, artisans and more.
