A recent job for a high tech conglomerate which was adding a promotional video of one of their machines. I lit it with 2 large softboxes mounted on high CRI LED units, sometimes adding a 2x2. Even with all the added light, for certain shots I needed to put my smallest high LED light inside it to brighten the items it was analyzing (the light is only 1/2" thick; the brown box is only there to support it).

This is a music video made in an all-volunteer project I produced and edited. The videos and music were recorded by people who live or work in Ashland, MA, in May 2020. There were 21 people in the video, with 3 others working behind the scenes. It took a lot of work to pull this off.

The intent of my project was to join together - though each person recorded their part at home on a cell phone or laptop computer - to make a fun music video and reinforce town spirit with a happy piece that gently touches on quarantining, being united as one, getting through this together, and love.

Produced by Chuck Green with Perpetual Motion Media in Ashland, MA. All the music was recorded by people who live or work in Ashland, in May 2020. Jimi Zimmardi…

Tonight - July 9th - part 1 of the HBO documentary which I served as 2nd cameraman on premieres at 8:00. Part 2 airs tomorrow at 8.

The title is I Love You Now Die: The Commonwealth Vs. Michelle Carter. It's not a downer to watch; though it covers complex issues it's riveting, with some surprises I hadn't been aware of.

Filming for the RFK Human Rights group in Hyannis: Ted Kennedy Jr, Kerry Kennedy, Matt Kennedy, and 18 others across 2 days. The group is doing impressive social justice work.

I filmed for the Alzheimers Association today. In the Statehouse rotunda it was easy to get a different background for each of 6 interviews, but I had to use only the existing lighting.

An interview in Rhode Island Hospital. The director from NJ was very particular about getting a specific look that was technically excellent - at least what could be achieved in a conference room with varnished woodwork. I LOVE working with a client with really high standards who also works collaboratively on meeting them. We used 7 lights ranging from large to tiny, a few flags to eliminate stray light, lots of diffusion, and spent 45 minutes on set dressing & adjustments.

This is the Perpetual Motion Media 2019 interviews demo reel, showing a variety of styles and looks from among the hundreds of interviews I've lit and filmed. The outdoor interview in this video involved primarily sunlight, modified with diffusion, reflectors, and supplemental lighting.

Samples of interviews I've lit and filmed.

There are photo series online showing how a telephoto lens visually compresses distances between objects, leading up to a wide angle lens which exaggerates them. I took this series of a bleak park beach ramp and handrails during the off-season, and the differences show quite well at both extremes. I started from 50', and halved the distance for each photo after, ending up 6' away.

Friday morning I set up in a temple Sanctuary to film interviews with two rabbis, separately and together. Two large "flags" block the sun which now and then would break through the cloud cover, and the lights I put up keep the light on each person fairly constant. They had really interesting things to say.
