Dean Young was the missing piece that flipped Ashland’s season.

When he returned from injury, the Tomcats’ bossing midfielder changed everything, calming the tempo, winning 50/50 balls, and pulling the strings in the middle of the park. His focus and skill were on full display in the first round of the KHSAA Sweet 16, when that rocket from distance pushed Ashland over the top and into the Elite Eight.

Whether you consider it cruel or poetic, that strike turned out to be the final kick of Dean’s scholastic career.

Today, we get to celebrate the next chapter: Dean Young has signed to continue his career at Kentucky Christian University!

Congrats, Dean. Thank you for what you’ve meant to Ashland soccer, and all the best as you move on to the next level.
