Did not expect that! 🤯

You made that look easy Brighton! Listened intently and when you got out there you popped right up and you were wakeboarding your first try!

What I love is that your learning didn’t stop after you got up. You listened to Whitney shout directions on your body posture and quickly shifted yourself to a more comfortable ride!

The reason Whitney kept telling her to lean back and stack her weight over the board is because if you ride hunched over like that and a passing boat wake comes through you will likely faceplant because your weight is bent forward.

When you’re stacked and leaning back you would be able to absorb those other wakes and bumps much easier. Plus it helps you to engage your fins to start turning back and forth.

So proud of you Brighton! You absolutely crushed it!

A few simple tips when learning to wakeboard 👇🏼

First off let’s give some much needed props to this young 8 year old for making it happen in 3 tries! Beyond impressed how she took direction and implemented it to make the small adjustments needed to pop up and rip!

When learning to wakeboard or teaching someone to wakeboard a few simple things said here will make all the difference for faster success.

Arms straight knees bent. This is the exact position to keep you from being tugged forward as the boat pulls you up. Having your arms straight keeps the boat from automatically extending your arms on pop up and yanking you forward. Bent knees helps with the tension of the water against your board and keeps your center of gravity low allowing you to keep balance better than locked legs.

Let the boat pull you up. This is a crucial tip that many struggle with. People naturally try to stand right up and if you try to do that too early the boat will just pull you over. If you can keep a bit of resistance to keep the line tight the boat will naturally pull you up and with the bent knees you’re already in the perfect stance to ride.

Once you’re up and riding you just need to keep your weight on your back leg and lean back against the pull of the boat.

Do those few things and you or who you’re teaching will be up riding quickly!

Good coaching or quick learner? 🤩

That little session on the back of the boat and again at the edge of the swim platform are game changers when teaching someone how to wakeboard.

The one on the back of the boat allows them to feel the pull of the rope while they’re not shivering cold in the water trying to take direction.

Next off the swim platform allows them to feel how they will be sitting in the water and again allows them to feel the pull up motion before they get out and try on their own.

This little 2 step sequence accelerates the learning curve substantially. By doing this you can see how well it worked being she was up and riding on her second try!

We have had Small Fry mic’d up while wakeboarding only a couple times. Each time being able to hear her reactions brings us the biggest smiles!

Here she was still somewhat in the learning phase of wakeboarding and beginning to venture into new tricks. So we set out with to help her learn one of her very first tricks.

We’re beyond glad we not only got to witness this happen but also to look back on the footage and hear her makes it like 100 times better!

I have been doing some research and I think I have a solution for more mic’d up moments this summer while out on our boat!

Worked just as expected 🤣

Cashy was walking around the house trying to find a unique place to set up her trip wire to prank Hype Mom. She tried in cabinets, doorways, the gym but couldn’t find anything that would actually work.

Then she went to the bathroom and I immediately had this absolutely brilliant idea of getting her as she comes out!

Luckily by doing it this way there’s a great chance of success and also a zero chance to scare the crap out of her since she’s fresh off the toilet.

The whole prank operation worked exactly as we had planned!

From holding dads hands to filming herself 🛹

To see Cashy trust her abilities to drop in with the camera and then the confidence to ride fakie like that was completely unexpected. I won’t lie I thought that she was totally going to eat it when she came back fakie.

Truthfully she’s never really ridden fakie except on a mini ramp so to pump those rollers fakie caught us totally off guard!

To see her confidence skyrocket over the years on all boards has been really fun to witness as her parents. We all don’t skate as much as we do the other sports but we still love it! It’s just that skateboarding hurts like a lot.

We are making a vow to skate more and more this summer which will be fun to see where that goes. Our family only cares about one thing and that’s having fun. With fun sometimes progression blossoms.

We also think Small Fry is going to have a blast skating and snowboarding and doing all the things with all her new friends and coaches this summer at Woodward Copper Snowboard Summer Camp!

“Can you believe I did that?”🏂

Kiddo your tenacity to try something new over jumps you barely started hitting always impresses us parents and yes we can believe you did that!

Cashy had only hit these specific jumps a few times and she was still getting used to proper park jumps like this before she said she wanted to try something new to her.

She had mentioned trying this earlier in the day but had yet to go for it until this drop which as you can hear caught both Hype Mom and I off guard.

It’s rad to see how the perfect park at motivated her progression which will be super cool to see what summer snowboard camp at does for her here in a few weeks.

What a crazy awesome opportunity for her to go to summer shred camp and snowboard with her peers and get professional coaching for a whole week!

They run these shred camps weekly all summer long and there’s tons of spots still available throughout the summer! Every week is something different with different pro riders visiting so your grom can progress and ride with their idols!

Can’t wait to see if her time at camp has her accomplishing the goals she mentions in the video. Only time will tell!

“What did you just say?” 🤭

I mean I get it. Sometimes the stoke takes over and it just comes out with excitement!

The was little Cashy from when she was almost 6 years old and learning how to ride her bike around a pump track for the first time. It took her a bit to understand that speed is actually her friend for momentum but once she got it she was having the time of her life as you can hear her say many times.

Now up to current day today. After a handful of pretty hard crashes when she was younger we honestly haven’t been on a bike very much if at all over the last couple years. Just recently Cashy has been wanting to get back on 2 wheels again so we’re excited to explore that new journey with her in these warmer weather months!
