Our Executive Director recently stepped away from the office and into the kitchen—joining Chef Chris Holen to film a brand-new cooking show! While we can’t reveal all the details just yet, we can share that they had a meaningful conversation about the origin of Kids Make Theatre, the power of belonging, and what it takes to shape a program that truly reflects and serves its community. Stay tuned for more!

Class of 2025 to Participate in "Grad Walk"

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, members of the Astoria High School Graduating Class of 2025 will be participating in a Grad Walk in school buildings throughout the Astoria School District. Upon completion of the school visits, candidates for graduation will complete their Grad Walk in a procession extending from 8th and Commercial toward the Liberty Theatre via Commercial Street. The Astoria School District would like to invite parents, businesses, and community members to be present on Commercial Street to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of the Class of 2025. The Grad Walk down Commercial Street will begin at approximately 11:15 am.

Nekst will be closed for now…
As a small family run business, we find ourselves at a time of transition. We can’t believe we are celebrating 25 years in Astoria and the high school graduation of our daughter all within the next two weeks!! Chef Holen continues to recover and is getting stronger everyday, thank you to everyone who reached out during this time. We are now starting to navigate the reality that our “nest” will soon be empty. You have all been such an amazing part of our story and we are forever grateful for each and every one of you!

Although our future plans are currently under wraps, Nekst will continue to serve as our creative space. When we are ready, we would LOVE to share with you, so please:

Dear Friends and Pho-natics of Nekst, THANK YOU for the numerous messages and well wishes for Chef Holen. He continues to recover from an emergency appendectomy on May 4th. He has a follow up appointment this week and hope to get the all clear👍 so that we can re-open for the last week in May. Please stay tuned ❤️. Big shout out to for taking excellent care of Chef Holen during his 4 night stay.
