This is the post I never wanted to write.
Misfits Media Co. is officially closing.
I started this business during cancer treatment — exhausted, foggy, and watching my hair fall out in clumps every time I looked in the mirror. I needed something that felt like control. Something that felt like me.
So I built this business from scratch, hoping it would provide income, purpose, and maybe a little healing. I believed in it — fiercely. I wanted to help people tell their stories through photos and words. I wanted it to matter.
But the truth is, in two years, I did not book a single paying client. Not one.
That kind of silence… it is brutal. It makes you question your worth, your talent, your purpose. I kept showing up, hoping someone would see the heart behind the work. But eventually, hope turns into heartache.
I am devastated. Because this business was not just a brand. It was a lifeline. Something to hold onto while everything else was falling apart.
If you ever liked a post, shared my page, or believed in me — thank you. That support mattered, even when the bookings never came.
This chapter ends here. But the story does not. It cannot.
With love and heavy closure,
Emily
