The 1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was a standout muscle car of its era, blending aggressive styling with performance features. As part of the second-generation Camaro lineup, the 1980 Z28 came with a distinctive appearance package that included a bold front air dam, rear spoiler, fender flares, and unique striping. The Z28 badge signified its performance-focused nature, and it was popular among enthusiasts who appreciated both speed and style.

Under the hood, the 1980 Z28 typically featured a 5.7-liter (350 cubic inch) V8 engine paired with either a 3-speed automatic or 4-speed manual transmission. It produced around 190 horsepower—respectable for the time, considering tightening emissions regulations. A functional hood scoop with a solenoid-operated flapper helped feed cooler air to the engine, enhancing performance. The Z28 also included a sport-tuned suspension, front and rear sway bars, and power brakes, giving it solid handling for a car of its size.

Inside, the Camaro Z28 offered bucket seats, a sporty gauge cluster, and optional T-tops for open-air driving. Saw this '74 Camaro Z28 at GM Carlisle a few years ago. According to the plaque in the window, this car is in original condition, with 10,500 miles! 350, 4-speed– pretty nice!

This year's GM Nationals are scheduled for June 20-21, Carlisle, PA.
