✴️ Our final in-person fundraiser of the year is tomorrow! Join us for a Pints for the Press gathering 5–8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8 at Casa Nueva.

We’ll be collecting donations for the Athens County Food Pantry: canned vegetables and meats, peanut butter, beef stew/chili, dried nuts and fruits, cereal, and diced tomatoes/sauce. Toilet paper, menstrual products and other hygiene items also accepted.

is also underway, so the annual value of all donations is doubled now through Dec. 31! New members will receive a sweet wooden Scoop ornament as thanks. 🎄

A state law passed in 2014 is forcing the City of Athens to refund $750,000 in income taxes to an unnamed business entity that lost money over several years. 💰️

Athens City Council members said they had only learned of the net operating loss law’s impact last week.
