Our friends at 1818 Farms are in need of something out amazing audience can help with! Help us find her a knife!
People often ask me, “What is your most used gardening tool?” The answer is simple.... a BUTTER KNIFE. It is the perfect tool for planting seeds, plugs and quickly weeding around the base of plants.
Sadly, my favorite knife, that I have used for many years, broke this week while planting. She was a vintage, silver plate knife that was included in a mixed set of flatware that I purchased in 2015 at an antique shop. There is no telling how many thousands and thousands of seeds and plugs that she planted over the years. Monday, while while planting our row of ageratum, the knife base and the handle broke apart 😭.
You may wonder what makes this specific knife so special. It’s the handle. The handle is the perfect size for the grip of my hand. There is no other knife that fits my hand as well. We have a huge bin full various types at the farm.
The last 5 days we have easily planted 7000 plus plants and seeds. A flat or too round handle results in severe hand/finger pain and cramping. I am currently using a butter knife with a duct taped wrapped handle in an effort to mimic the feel of my favorite broken knife. Needless to say, I miss my knife. The new one that I am using is a poor substitution.
I am searching for an identical replacement butter knife. If you recognize the pattern, please message me. Most of the engraving was worn off, so I can’t determine the manufacturer or pattern. I do know that the handle is silver-plate. I bet y’all are all thinking that this is the strangest post that I have ever made. I am on a mission to replace my favorite gardening tool and appreciate your help in my search!
