Storytime ⚡️ Stranger

Craig wrote this song during the 2007 recession when he was living in Elkhart County, Indiana, the epicenter of RV production. Jobs were gone, homes were lost, things were bleak for a lot of people. In the midst of that, humans still found ways to connect and to love.

Noteworthy moment:
You can remember that humans made this if you can catch Craig knocking his pick against his mandolin towards the end of the song. The sounds is similar to someone kicking a mic stand. AI generated? Absolutely not.

Big thanks to Realgrey Records for their excellence in helping us make this and all the songs on our debut EP come alive. We will forever see Ron bouncing in delight in his chair in front of the controls as we worked on this one!

Yesterday we recorded a Ranat. What is a Ranat? It’s a Thai traditional xylophone. This instrument sounds amazing, with a beautiful tone. The bamboo bars are suspended by cords over a boat-shaped trough resonator.

Voo Doo Birds, today is day 5. People have been asking how could you record 15 songs is 8 hours. So here you go. To begin, there was 6 to 8 hours of preparation before the recording.

Each drum was carefully tuned and the microphones were placed on the drum kit. The piano was tuned. All the mics were setup and checked.

For the current project, the Voo Doo Birds, the rhythm section came in a day early, to set up all their stuff. The headphone system was optimized for them and all the mics were placed. The following day, we begin recording.
