The event was hosted by CCHS’ FCA and organized by students to provide attendees with food, live performances, games and worship. “We had weekly (FCA) meetings (where we) all pitched in in some way or form,” Gilreath said. “It was nice to see everyone come together as a community and school to worship Jesus, and have a chance to experience the joy and peace that comes with it.” Story by X, photos by X

The Clarke Central High School tennis courts are shown on Oct. 24. In an Oct. 23 email to CCHS staff, CCHS Athletic Director Dr. Jon Ward  announced that the CCHS courts will be resurfaced. “The resurfacing process enhances safety, playability and the courts’ longevity. Clarke Central High School and ODYSSEY Media Group Class of 2020 alumnus Alexander Robinson poses on the social studies glass bridge on Sept. 26. Robinson, a former Journalism I Facilitator, Staff Writer and Sports Editor served on staff all four years of high school, and reflected on how ODYSSEY helped him earn the POSSE Scholarship to attend George Washington University. “I credit ODYSSEY with legitimately getting me into the university that I ended up going to. While I was doing those (interviews), we were brought in for a two-on-one interview and allowed to bring (in some kind of) material. I brought in several copies of the newsmagazine that I worked on, one of which I had written the cover story,” Robinson said. “Due to the quality of (ODYSSEY’s) product, they were just in awe that a high schooler like me could have played a part in producing something like that.” Photos by Grady Dunston and from the ODYSSEY archives, story by Gillian Williams

The tattoo culture in Athens has been developing since the first shop, Midnight Iguana Tattooing, opened in 1989. With multiple tattoo shops in Athens, Lucky Cobra Tattoo owner Charley Ferlito has worked to set his shop apart in appearance and experience. “We always try to do our best by the clientele, and maybe they’ve come in here with friends and they’re like (these shops), they’re all kind of different,” Ferlito said. “If you walk through every different shop in town, they have their (aesthetics, and they’re all) pretty different.” Photos by Iliana Tejada, graphics and story by Lea D’Angelo.

Memoirist Dr. Harrison Scott Key, Executive Dean of the Savannah College of Art and Design, holds up a gift from the iliad Literary-Art Magazine Editorial Board in the Clarke Central High School Media Center on Oct. 17. CCHS sophomore Juniper Wagoner attended the author visit and emphasized how events like it can positively impact high school students. “I was given a ticket (to the author visit) from my (Advanced Placement Seminar) teacher because I’m a comic artist and storyteller, and she (thought) that going to this would be important for me (attend),” Wagoner said. “I think (author visits) let students know what to put the most focus on in their (writing). They can dive further into that information and see how they can apply that sort of stuff to their work, to improve their storytelling or art for school.” Photos and story by Kye Streetman

Anthony Brooks, Clarke Central High School Career, Technical and Agricultural Education department teacher and National FFA Organization co-adviser, holds a sign naming his Halloween costume. Participating in Halloween was a prominent part of Brooks’ childhood and something he encourages students to do, as well. “Growing up, I always dressed up to go trick-or-treating. My words of wisdom to students that think they’re too cool for school and don’t want to dress up is that high school is what you make of it,” Brooks said. “You can make it the best experience, or you can have a (bad) time by not being involved. I think that the more involved that you are in high school, it shows that you take pride in your learning and in your education.” Photos and story by Edie Ash

Ragsdale in front of the the trophy case on July 23. After her experience in the program, McCage offered advice to current OMG students. “Be willing to change things up if you don’t like what you’re doing, not just accepting (them). If you don’t like what you’re doing in ODYSSEY now, be open to trying other things, and maybe you’ll like that better,” McCage said. Photos by Iliana Tejada and from the ODYSSEY archives
