The Red & Black

The Red & Black The independent student news org serving the University of Georgia and Athens communities. Since 1893 The Red and Black Publishing Company, Inc.

is an independent, private, not-for-profit corporation. Founded in 1893, the paper operated for 87 years under the University of Georgia. In 1980, the State Board of Regents approved independent status for the organization. The Red & Black circulates the largest college newspaper in Georgia. Each week we distribute 10,000 copies of the print edition both on and off campus, reaching nearly 45,000 s

tudents, faculty and staff. The print edition — and daily online content, which reaches 60,000 uses a week — cover University of Georgia and Athens news, sports, arts, music, culture and opinion pieces. The Red and Black is operationally and financially independent from the University of Georgia. The organization receives no student activity fees or other funding from UGA. Operations are sustained through the sale of advertising. Our twofold mission is to provide a training ground for students interested in gaining experience in various aspects of media and to provide a high quality news source for the University of Georgia community.

We are THRILLED to let you know that we have officially exceeded our initial fundraising goal for this campaign, thanks to you! There is still time to double your impact before the end of the year, but for now, we thank you for going above and beyond for The Red & Black. This year marks our most successful NewsMatch campaign to date.

These funds will go towards initiatives such as covering stipends for our student workers, sending our journalists to cover stories (including the Georgia Bulldogs post-season), producing our guides and magazines and expanding our Spanish language desk.

Still want to double your impact on The Red & Black? Help us run the clock down to New Year's by supporting us here: https://givebutter.com/B1Cs9u
