Behind our Sunday cold front, temperatures will be near to below average. The days, particularly Monday and Tuesday, will stay chilly with highs likely remaining in the 40s. Expect near or sub-freezing temperatures at night, particularly Monday night into Tuesday morning where the entirety of North and Central Texas will likely dip down into the 20s. As we move closer to mid-week, temperatures moderate some and become more seasonal with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

Here at Athens Animal Services, we are humbled and amazed by all that has been accomplished this year โ€” and just like something straight out of a Hallmark movie, we pulled off a last-minute Christmas miracle. โœจ๐ŸŽ„

We are beyond excited to share that we have secured 27 boarding passes on a last-minute, end-of-year Wings of Rescue flight leaving tomorrow morning. ๐Ÿ›ซ๐Ÿพ

That brings us to an incredible 105 animals flown out of Henderson County to their waiting forever homes in the month of December alone. ๐Ÿค

This was no small feat โ€” it required coordination, dedication, long hours, and unwavering belief that these lives were worth fighting for. And they absolutely were.

From our staff who never stopped pushing forward, to our volunteers who stepped up again and again, and our community donors who made the impossible possible โ€” thank you. This success belongs to all of you.

Because of you, 105 animals will wake up warm, loved, and home.
And that is the very best kind of Christmas miracle. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ๐ŸŽ

Championship success continues in The Valley for the internationally known TVCC Cardettes!

Competing at The College Classic on April 13 in Orlando, Florida, the Showgirls claimed not one but two national titles, capturing both the Jazz Division and Open Pom categories. What can we say? It's a Cardettes Thing! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue throughout the week, with afternoon temperatures anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees above normal. Highs will be in the 70s to mid 80s each day this week, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. 80ยฐ in DFW would mean this would be the 2nd warmest Christmas on record. For Waco, the high temperature would have to be 78ยฐ or higher to be a contender for at least the 3rd warmest.
