Our next Trail Sunday event will be on September 6th, 2026. We will be meeting at the Baileys Trail System Chauncey Trailhead at around 12:30 to fuel up on some BOTT Bites and Coffee. After that we will be going out to Wild Turkey Trail, and performing some needed trail maintenance. If you are a veteran, active duty, guard or reserve we hope to see you out there.

If you want to understand what it really means to hold the line in absolute chaos, look at the legacy of Marine Sgt. Nicole L. Gee.

On August 26, 2021, she made the ultimate sacrifice during the harrowing evacuation at the Kabul airport. As a maintenance chief with the 24th MEU, her logistics role was critical. But we will always remember her actions in those final days, comforting infants and guiding evacuees to safety under severe threat. She showed us exactly what uncompromising, visible competence looks like, embodying the absolute highest standard of the Marine Corps.

Today, the Sgt. Nicole Gee Memorial Highway in Roseville, California. It is a permanent reminder that the history of military women isn’t just in textbooks. It is actively being written by the relentless dedication of women on the front lines right now.

As a sisterhood, we will never forget her name, her courage, or her sacrifice. If you ever find yourself on that stretch of Highway 80, please take a second to look for her memorial and honor her legacy 💙❤️

Too often, women downplay their sacrifice, citing reasons like:
"I didn't serve in a combat zone."
"I 'just' did a two- or three-year enlistment."
"I only served during peacetime."

But an oath is an oath. When you hesitate to claim your veteran status, you risk navigating the civilian sector in isolation and leaving hard-earned educational, healthcare, and professional benefits on the table. At the Women Veterans Alliance, we are aggressively changing that narrative. Your service matters, your experience is an undeniable asset, and your community is waiting.

Have you ever caught yourself downplaying your service? Let's talk about it. Share your story in the comments below ❤️
