🍎 Homemade Applesauce — Two Delicious Ways! 🫐
Today I made two simple homemade applesauce flavors, and honestly, I’m not sure which one I love more!
🫐 Apple Blueberry
Fresh apples and blueberries blended together with a little water, a touch of maple syrup, and just a pinch of sea salt. Simple, naturally fruity, and absolutely delicious!
🍎 Apple Cinnamon
Fresh apples blended with a little water, maple syrup, cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt. Warm, cozy, and naturally sweet!
What I love most about making applesauce at home is knowing exactly what goes into it. No unnecessary preservatives, artificial flavors, or ingredients I can’t pronounce — just fruit and simple ingredients.
Homemade vs. Store-Bought
Homemade applesauce gives you control over:
• How much sweetener you add
• The ingredients and flavors
• The texture
• The freshness
• What you choose to leave out
Apples provide fiber and antioxidants, while blueberries are especially rich in antioxidant compounds. Cinnamon also contains naturally occurring plant compounds with antioxidant properties.
And because I made mine with a little maple syrup instead of adding lots of refined sugar, I can control the sweetness to my liking.
Store-bought applesauce can definitely be convenient, but some varieties contain added sugars, syrups, preservatives, or other ingredients. If you’re buying it, checking the label and choosing unsweetened or no-added-sugar options is a great way to keep it simple.
There’s just something special about making it yourself — fresh fruit, simple ingredients, and flavors you can customize exactly the way you like them.
Now the important question… which one would you choose?
🫐 Apple Blueberry or 🍎 Apple Cinnamon?
