If You Want to Be Fast, Go Slow
Reflections from a Busy Momās Quiet Moment
The other day, I was folding laundryāone of those simple tasks I usually squeeze in while my daughter naps. As a mom, quiet time is gold, and I often rush to fit in as much as I can during those brief windows of peace.
That day, as I was putting the clothes away, I was already planning what came next.
āIāll finish the dishes, then sit down and work on some content. Hopefully, Iāll wrap everything up before she wakes.ā
It was my usual mental juggling act.
But somewhere in the middle of it all, I dropped a pile of folded clothes. It was such a small moment, but it made me pause. My hands were rushing just as much as my thoughts were.
Thatās when a phrase came to mindāsomething Iād heard but never truly understood until then:
āIf you want to be fast, go slow.ā
Later, I looked it up. It turns out this phrase is used in the military. Itās a reminder that deliberate, careful action is often more effective than rushing. When you slow down and move with intention, you make fewer mistakes. You donāt waste time redoing things. You actually finish faster.
That really hit home for me.
As a mom, as a creator, as someone constantly bouncing between tasksāthis idea felt like a deep breath in a world of rushing. I realized that moving slower doesnāt mean doing less. It means doing things more deliberately, more peacefully, and ultimately, more efficiently.
So now, when I feel the urge to hurry, I remind myself:
Pause. Breathe. Focus.
Because sometimes, the fastest way to get things done⦠is to slow down first.
š¬ Iād love to hear from you:
