THE HORSE BROKE THROUGH OUR KITCHEN DOOR AND I WOKE UP TO A NIGHTMARE 😳🐴
I wasn’t even fully awake yet, and I still can’t explain how it happened.
One moment I’m lying in bed, thinking it’s just another Thursday morning. The next, I hear this strange scraping noise outside — like metal dragging across wood. I figured maybe the garbage bins tipped over again.
But when I walked into the kitchen, I froze.
The bottom half of our back door was gone. Not opened — completely smashed in. Splintered wood everywhere, latch hanging by a screw. And right there, standing like he owned the place, was Oscar. Our horse.
Yes, horse. 😅
We’ve got a small bit of land, nothing fancy, and Oscar’s always in his little paddock. He’s older, super chill, not the kind to act out unless something’s really wrong. But now he was covered in dirt and sweat, chest heaving, and — I kid you not — the bottom part of the door was looped around his neck like some kind of wild collar.
I didn’t even know where to start.
No blood, thank God. But his eyes were wide, like he’d seen something. Like he was still running.
And here’s the creepiest part: the latch on his paddock gate? Still locked.
I haven’t told Sam yet. He’s at work. And the neighbors already think we’re barely keeping things together out here.
So there I stood, barefoot, just staring at Oscar in the kitchen… when I noticed something moving near the tree line.
