If I may be very vulnerable, transparent, and honest in this moment.
As a Black Man, the gravity of the results of this Presidential election is daunting and very discouraging.
It's the ever constant reminder especially for BLACK WOMEN, no matter how overqualified, intelligent, experienced, inspiring, and talented you may be (less our white allies) the majority white America will NEVER see me and others who look like past our ethnicity.
That's what is discouraging...no matter how much we diversify, equip ourselves with education, experience, and passionate about being excellent it's still NOT enough to be seen past my ethnicity.
The fact that 69% of white women who are profoundly at risk to lose their reproductive rights/access to healthcare, voted FOR abortion bill amendments on the ballot but yet voted FOR the party that rolled back their rights is simply WILD to me and reminder of how DEEP racism and sexism runs within this country.
I as someone who frequently shows up and takes up space where I am often the "only" or one of the few, it's very discouraging in this moment of the additional burden I carry knowing regardless of how educated, progressive, thorough, passionate, and above board I may be, I still cannot be seen past my ethnicity...
Lastly to address my ppl who did not vote and/or disengaged but yet have a wealth of criticism for those of us who are, we are not monolithic therefore let's be "easy" criticizing one another.
We all do not take up space in the same realms or areas but our COMMON goal is to be judged by content of our character and not our ethnicity and our ethnicity alone.
I honestly don't know what's to come next but now...this is where I am.
