Kawhi Leonard Recovering Well from Knee Procedure, Expected for Clippers' Training Camp
Kawhi Leonard, the talented forward of the Los Angeles Clippers, underwent a clean-up procedure on his right knee in early June. The procedure was successful, and Leonard is anticipated to be fully ready for the start of the Clippers' training camp in late September. This news brings reassurance to the fans and the team as they look forward to a strong upcoming season.
According to Lawrence Frank, the president of basketball operations for the Clippers, Leonard had a meniscus tear in his knee, but his surgically repaired ACL remains intact.
The procedure, which took place around June 6, is expected to have an eight-week recovery period before Leonard can return to the court for game play. Frank expressed confidence in Leonard's progress and confirmed that he feels great about his recovery.
Leonard's injury initially occurred during the first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns. After participating in Games 1 and 2, he missed the subsequent three games due to the knee injury.
Unfortunately, the Clippers were eventually eliminated by the Suns in five games. At the time, the team stated that Leonard had a right knee sprain, but further examinations revealed the meniscus tear through an MRI after the second game.
It is worth noting that Leonard already missed the entire previous season while recovering from an ACL tear. Despite this setback, he showed remarkable performance in the first two playoff games against the Suns, averaging 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and six assists. His presence on the court was sorely missed during the remainder of the series.
The Clippers organization and fans are eagerly looking forward to Leonard's return for the upcoming training camp. With his exceptional skills and contributions, Leonard plays a pivotal role in the team's success. As he continues his recovery, the expectation is that he will be 100% ready to join his teammates and embark on another promising season.
