I owe a lot of my passion for healthcare data to where I come from.

Growing up and working in rural South Georgia, I’ve seen firsthand how underserved communities are impacted—not just by limited access, but by patterns in disease that often go unaddressed at a systems level.

After 15+ years in the lab, I’ve witnessed recurring trends in patient populations—particularly in oncology, transplant-related conditions, and diabetes. These aren’t isolated cases… they’re patterns.

And that’s where healthcare data analysts—especially in lab settings—make a real impact.

Lab data is often the first signal in a patient’s journey. When analyzed effectively, it can:
• Identify trends across populations
• Support earlier and more accurate diagnoses
• Highlight gaps in care and access
• Guide healthcare organizations in improving workflows and patient outcomes

In rural communities, this matters even more.

Because when we leverage lab data strategically, we’re not just reviewing results, but we’re helping shape systems that better serve patients who are often overlooked.

My goal is to bridge my hands-on lab experience with data analytics to drive meaningful change—especially for underserved populations.

How Healthcare Systems Directly Impact Patient Outcomes

Working in healthcare for over a decade has taught me one thing:

👉 Patient outcomes are not just driven by clinical care…
They are driven by the systems behind the scenes.

From EHR integration to lab workflows and data reporting, every system decision plays a role in:
✔ How quickly results are delivered
✔ How accurately data is captured
✔ How efficiently care teams can respond

When systems are optimized, patients receive:
➡️ Faster diagnoses
➡️ More accurate treatment plans
➡️ Better overall care experiences

But when systems are inefficient or disconnected, it creates delays, errors, and missed opportunities to improve patient outcomes.

This is what fuels my passion for health informatics and data analytics—bridging the gap between clinical operations and data-driven decision-making to improve healthcare delivery.

Now? I’m turning experience into intelligence.

Breaking into health informatics hasn’t been easy. Transitioning from clinical operations into data, analytics, and health IT strategy comes with questions, barriers, and moments of “Do you have direct experience?”

But here’s what I know:

New year, new momentum, and new levels of focus on health informatics in the laboratory space.
Health informatics is vital to modern healthcare—it’s the backbone of compliance, data integrity, interoperability, and patient safety. In the lab especially, informatics ensures the right test, for the right patient, at the right time, while staying aligned with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
As healthcare continues to evolve alongside AI and advanced analytics, informatics plays a critical role in translating raw lab data into actionable insights. AI is only as powerful as the data behind it—and that’s where strong LIS workflows, HL7 interfaces, and data governance matter most.
This year, I’m intentionally expanding my knowledge daily—deepening my understanding of laboratory information systems (LIS), HL7 messaging, SQL, data validation, and compliance-driven workflows. I’m excited about the direction healthcare is going and even more excited about contributing on the backend where accuracy, structure, and interoperability truly drive outcomes.
I’m actively seeking an opportunity to grow within health informatics—specifically in lab and LIS-focused roles, including Epic Beaker environments. If you’re building, optimizing, or modernizing lab systems and value someone who understands both the clinical lab side and the informatics side, I’d love to connect.

🚀 Building My Own Lane in a Silent Feed

Not gonna lie… trying to grow your brand on social media in 2025 feels like shouting into a void where the only echo is your own “like.” 😩
But when you’re stepping out on your own, trying to build something meaningful, and showing up authentically—it hits different.

I’m learning quickly that visibility doesn’t come easy.
People see the glow-up after, not the grind during.
And honestly? Watching those posts get one like and a prayer while you’re trying to promote your brand… whew. Humbling. Character-development-arc unlocked. 😂

At the same time, this job market is giving “we’ll keep your résumé on file” energy WAY too often.
Trying to land opportunities right now feels like running a marathon in heels—possible, but why is it this hard, Lord?? 😭

But even with the slow engagement and the job-hunt plot twists, I’m choosing to keep showing up.
Keep building.
Keep learning.
Keep putting my brand, my skills, and my story out there.

Because one thing about me?
I wasn’t built to quit. I was built to pivot, innovate, and shake the table when necessary.
And I know the right eyes, the right doors, and the right opportunities will find me.

Transitioning from hands-on lab work to leveraging AI tools has been an eye-opening ride.
