I conducted this video in 2025 where I interviewed a local special education teacher. We discussed the heightened belief in stigma and negative label within the black community.
Due to generations of distrust of the medical industry, many in the black community reject the idea/diagnosis of ADHD for their kids which in turn creates a gap in receiving resources needed for long term lifestyle benefits.
This hurts the community more than it helps. Today I want to discuss this issue. As a mom of a daughter who struggled for years due to ADHD but now thriving in college, had I rejected resources she desperately needed as a child, I would have allowed her to continue to struggle. She would not be the thriving adult that she is now. I have seen it first hand struggling young adults with ADHD who never received any help as kids.
