Love it or hate it, AI generated music is a reality.

Recently, Jason Khalil Ali began using the technology to inject God's Word into the music. And it is absolutely DOPE. But is there a downside to having the verses of the Holy Quran double as verses (and hooks) to an R&B song?

TRRS will go one-on-one with Ali to discuss the intent, the technology and the impact. Wanna weigh in? We may even take a few calls.

Check out Ali's YouTube channel here to listen to "Rhythm & Quran": https://www.youtube.com/

The more research I did in preparation for tonight's podcast, the more I discovered that this conversation has waaaay more than one layer and people have voiced a wide range of opinions on this.

SHOULD the Holy Quran be used as source material for AI music?

Tonight, my guest is Bro. Jason Khalil Ali, the creator of "Rhythm & Quran", a YouTube channel that features AI music inspired by the Quran. Have you been listening? Call us tonight and give feedback directly to the brother who created (?) it.

Right here at 7pmEST.

I need y'all's opinion on something.

A few weeks ago I wrote a post (see the link below) about how conflicted I was over how good some of this AI music out here is. Not just how polished and professional-sounding it is, but also how creative some of the arrangements are and how real the vocalists sound.

At the time, I was discussing a YouTube channel called "Rhythm & Quran" (R&Q) which takes verses from the Holy Quran and arranges them (verbatim) as smooth R&B songs. Since then, thousands have viewed the channel to listen to this new AI-generated genre of music. Is it dope? YES. Is it the Word straight from The Book? YES. It's been on rotation in my house for WEEKS and it's as good as anything on the radio if not better.

"YES, finally something that WE can enjoy", I thought to myself. And then a quiet 2nd thought came: "Should the revealed Word of God also be what we use as a source of entertainment?"

This Saturday on not only will I share my opinions on this, I'll also have Bro. Jason Khalil Ali, the creator of R&Q on to talk about WHY he did it in the 1st place.

What y'all think? Comment below.

I don't care what your religion is, what frat you pledged, what set you claim or which coast you come from.

If you love your city, your 'hood or your block they way you SAY you do, you have a VESTED INTEREST in making it better...
...and tonight's convo applies to you.

Student Minister Abdul Malik Sayyid Muhammad (formerly known as Tony Muhammad) has dedicated his life to serving the 'hood and making it a decent and safe place to live. Tonight our brother goes one-on-one with yours truly to talk about it.

I asked what was his most memorable club he played in during the 80's and early 90's. If you were there during that era, his answer should not surprise you.

Tomorrow is and although many in STL will post pictures of Imo's Pizza, Vess Soda and Red Hot Ripplets, we'll be on The Rockwell Radio Show talking about the real CULTURE of the city!

For the 1st segment of the podcast, we'll speak with Reaceyung KingSullivan whose music is re-introducing the city to the national hip-hop stage. For the 2nd segment, we'll speak with the brother who helped put the city on the map in the 1st place, the legendary King Odie.

If you're like me and have moved away and lost the STL accent, you got 24 hours to get your "hurr" (here), "thurr" (there) and "whurr" (where) together. 😆😉

I got some good news.

I wasn't sure if it was gonna happen but we have received confirmation that this weekend on The Rockwell Radio Show, we'll be joined by one of my St. Louis DJ heroes King Odie!

It would take me all day to type out his resume and accomplishments for St. Louis hip-hop so I have to write it in one word:

Legend.

I have been waiting to have THIS conversation for over 35 years.
