Thinking of Brent Mydland today on the anniversary of his passing in 1990. His soulful voice and keys remain a vital part of the Grateful Dead’s sound. 💜🎹⚡️

🎶 New Music Spotlight! 🎶

Rob Kuhlman just wrapped mastering “Heart is a Bullet” by the incredible Mickey King—and we’re pumped to share a first listen!

This track hits hard with soul, swagger, and 1960s British Blues Rock. Mickey laid down guitar and bass, running through his Marshall 1973X 2x12 combo for that raw, expressive tone. We captured the bass through our Avalon U5, then re-amped it through our David Eden cab and his vintage 1960s all tube Ampeg head to dial in that warm, punchy low end.

On drums: Alex Clark behind the RCMS house kit, bringing groove and fire.

On keys: the one and only Kenny Head adding classic texture and soul.

Backing vocals: the lush and layered harmonies of Lunaversol.

Take a peek behind the scenes with photos from the session and a clip of the finished master.

🔊 Turn it up and let Heart is a Bullet hit you right where it counts.
