Clark Atlanta University is honored to receive a $16.5 million gift as part of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation’s $50 million commitment to Atlanta’s HBCUs.

Over the next 10 years, this transformative investment will provide scholarships that help CAU students close financial gaps and graduate with their degrees.

Together with Morehouse, Morris Brown, and Spelman, we celebrate this historic commitment to the future of HBCU students.

For many students, financial barriers—not academics—stand in the way of earning their diploma.

That's why we're committing $50 million over 10 years to provide gap scholarships at Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morris Brown College, and Spelman College. Gap scholarships will provide direct support to students who are closest to earning their degrees but face financial gaps that could prevent them from finishing. By bridging these gaps, the program will help ensure more students stay enrolled, graduate on time, and step into their futures with a completed degree.

Beginning in 2026, this program is projected to support nearly 10,000 students, helping raise graduation rates across Atlanta's HBCUs and serve as a model for other philanthropies to expand investment in HBCU student success.

Atlanta's HBCUs are vital to our city's future. Our chairman, Arthur M. Blank, shared: "Our hope is that by helping more students earn their degrees, launch successful careers and become alumni who give back, we are investing in a cycle of opportunity that benefits young people and their families in Atlanta and communities across the nation for years to come."
