Remembering our former 11Alive teammate, Jeannette Ann ‘Sis’ Whitmire. Jeanette was a dedicated and hardworking video editor at 11Alive in the 1990's. She moved on to work at CNN, FOX 5, and Cherokee Nation Communications.

Jeannette brought immense heart to her work and was deeply passionate about her Native American heritage. She went on to do incredible things, including being named Cherokee Nation Communications Employee of the Year in 2013.

Her legacy as a storyteller, colleague, and friend will always be cherished by those who worked alongside her here at 11Alive.

Jeanette passed away on June 26, 2026, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 63.

A service will be held this Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Sequoyah Chapel at Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
