UMC (URBAN MOVIE CHANNEL) secured our services to help them execute a consumer inspired rebrand. Through research and consumer learning, we were able to uncover compelling insights, deliver a qualified consumer inspired brand idea, and a brand name for this reimaged streaming service.
Our goal: To create a modern, distinct, culturally relevant logo and design theme toolkit for UMC’s rebrand to [ allblk ].
Our aim: To help the brand transcend the streaming category to become a lifestyle brand and to create brand lovers of [ allblk ].
Our creative approach: The triangle “play button” was our anchor and carried over from the original UMC brand. The African-American community represents many shades and hues. Utilizing a gradient of brown hues to encapsulate the name and within the triangle “play button” immediately represents the celebrated target audience. A completely custom font to portray a modern aesthetic that echoes subtle curves and the thinning of letters to create a solution that will appeal to a female audience while not alienating a male audience.
