Studio Vosges

Studio Vosges A film and television studio founded by Ava Davis to highlight the voices of q***r black, brown, and Studio Vosges is, in the French sense, an atelier.

It is a creative studio, with a focus on narrative film and television, events, photography, and writing. Studio Vosges was established in 2015 by Ava Davis, and formally created as a limited liability company in 2019 to help produce a short for its flagship icon, the Duchess of Grant Park. Studio Vosges was created to help lift and highlight the voices of trans, q***r and non-binary voices, espec

ially the voices of trans, q***r, and non-binary voices from people of color. Davis, a black trans q***r woman, noticed the lack of voices in her independent film community and wanted to create opportunities for herself and others. Studio Vosges also works with new filmmakers to help bring their vision to life. We are currently working to produce our first feature film, The Waltz, about a single young trans woman who teams up with a reluctant dance partner to pursue her dream of learning the waltz, only for the two to slowly fall for each other while fighting insecurities and social pressures. THE WALTZ is a sponsored project of Film Independent, a non-profit independent
media arts organization. Film Independent will receive grants for the charitable purposes
of THE WALTZ, provide oversight to ensure that grant funds are used in
accordance with grant agreements, and provide reports as required by the grantor. Contributions for the charitable purposes of THE WALTZ must be made payable
to Film Independent and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. To learn more, please visit https://www.filmindependent.org/programs/fiscal-sponsorship/the-waltz/

To everyone who offered support yesterday - thank you! When I said first real red carpet, there was a sign up and a list of the orgs who'd be there - there were slates we did for photographers beforehand and so much different than anything I'd ever done! An actor always tries to prepare so that when it comes time to perform, you're only focused on performing. But Monday was wonderful prep for last night (which is how I planned it). And Her Grace was a splash!

Our film, Black Girls and Fairytales premieres tonight at 10Pm. It's a late block, but we're all excited. Micheaux Film Festival has been amazing and spectacular and - I will honestly say I think it will eventually become a pretty decent industry festival for people of color. So many beautiful black, brown, and beige people and all so incredibly talented.

Last night, a wonderfully dressed Nida Chowdry offered to take pictures on my phone. Mind you she was dressed spectacularly as well, but it was just such a spirit of comraderie. A celebration of each others work but also ... we're all there for a purpose. and to help create sustainable careers as filmmakers.

And I'm grateful for the Micheaux Film Festival for providing this platform and this space to celebrate these artists. I cannot wait to submit Q***r Dystopia to the festival for next year!

I had to grab some from my phone because I have no idea where the trade photos will end up. We'll find out.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me the much needed words of encouragement!
