Okay Caribbean people… let’s settle this! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

Do you have to be BORN in the Caribbean to call yourself Caribbean?

OR…

If you were born in the US, UK, Canada or somewhere else, but both of your parents are Caribbean, are you just as Caribbean? πŸ€”

And here’s where it gets interesting…

What if you grew up eating the food, hearing the music, speaking the dialect, visiting β€œback home,” knowing the traditions and being raised in a Caribbean household β€” but you’ve never actually lived in the Caribbean?

Are you Caribbean?
Caribbean by descent?
Or part of the diaspora, but not actually Caribbean? πŸ‘€

U.S. Visa Bond Rules Now Affect Four Caribbean Nations in 2026

Four Caribbean countries are now included on the U.S. Department of State’s list of nationalities subject to visa bond requirements for certain B-1/B-2 visitor visas.

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¬ Antigua and Barbuda β€” Effective January 21, 2026
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί Cuba β€” Effective January 21, 2026
πŸ‡©πŸ‡² Dominica β€” Effective January 21, 2026
πŸ‡¬πŸ‡© Grenada β€” Effective April 2, 2026

Under the program, eligible B-1/B-2 visa applicants from affected countries may be required to post a refundable bond of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000, with the amount determined during the visa interview.

The bond is designed to encourage compliance with U.S. immigration rules, particularly timely departure from the United States. According to the State Department, the money can be returned when DHS records that the traveler departed the U.S. on or before the end of their authorized stay.

⚠️ Applicants should not pay a visa bond unless instructed by a U.S. consular officer. A bond also does not guarantee that a visa will be issued.

Delta Air Lines Permanently Ends Flights to St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Delta Air Lines is ending its nonstop service to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with the final scheduled flight between Atlanta (ATL) and Argyle International Airport (SVD) set to operate on September 5, 2026.

The route launched in December 2025, providing travelers with direct service between Delta’s major Atlanta hub and St. Vincent. While the airline had initially planned to pause the service for the fall and resume flights on December 19, 2026, Delta has now confirmed that the route has been permanently removed from its schedule and will not return.

Passengers booked to travel after September 5 are being contacted by Delta regarding rebooking assistance and alternative travel arrangements.

Delta has not cited one specific reason for the decision, but noted that it routinely reviews factors including customer demand, aircraft availability and operational costs when making changes to its network.

The cancellation marks the end of the route less than a year after its launch and reduces nonstop connectivity between the United States and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
