🚨 Breaking Immigration News: USCIS Cracks Down on Marriage-Based Green Cards

New procedures from USCIS now include stricter vetting, mandatory in-person interviews for all cases, enhanced fraud prevention measures (including potential social media checks), and a much higher evidence requirement to prove a genuine marriage.

You’ll now need robust documentation like joint financials, shared leases, photos, affidavits, and communications, not just the basics. Separate fees per form and clearer filing requirements are also being enforced.

New Policy Alert: The Trump administration plans a sweeping expansion of denaturalization efforts in fiscal year 2026 — directing USCIS to refer 100–200 denaturalization cases per month to the Justice Department for potential citizenship revocation. This marks a major escalation from the historical average of ~11 cases per year.

The initiative focuses on alleged fraud or misrepresentation but has raised serious concerns among civil rights advocates that broad language and quota-style targets could put naturalized Americans at risk for far more than just serious crimes. Critics also warn of chilling effects on immigrant communities.

U.S. Ends Temporary Protected Status for Haitians

The Trump administration has officially announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals, with the decision set to take effect on February 3, 2026.

According to the announcement, after February 3, 2026, Haitians who were granted TPS — as well as individuals without nationality who last resided in Haiti — will no longer be protected under the program.

TPS was originally granted to Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake, offering temporary relief from deportation and permission to work in the United States. The termination now places thousands of Haitian families in a difficult and uncertain position as the deadline approaches.
